Nahh, Akshay said the same thing when he postponed Padman two weeks before its release and voided a clash with Padmavat 😆. Except Akshay was smart enough to actually organize a press conference with Bhansali and not only saved face but also hogged some credit for himself for being a good guy. I guess Akshay’s PR is more shrewd than Karthik’s.

Postponing a movie 11 days before its release is very risky. Specially when they’ve already started their promotions full force.

How did T series and karthik not think through the release date? I mean, no one could have known Pathan would be such a mega hit but they should have atleast known that people wouldn’t want to spend few hundred rupees on shehzada so soon after a major movie of a superstar released.

This kinda makes them look stupid, and they clearly want this movie to work, because they likely spent a pretty penny acquiring rights to the telegu version and there are rumours that the movie went over budget too.

i think they should have done a proper announcement, acknowledging they didn’t want to compete with Pathaan and show solidarity as an industry.

Who picked their release date first? Regardless T-series probably should have changed it a while back, but I think they considered a few factors here and made a decision. One that the last few SRK movies haven’t worked. Two, BB2 was a bonafide blockbuster in a very bad year like 2022. Three they probably overestimated karthik’s star power while also underestimated SRK’s return. Keeping all of this in mind they took a calculated risk, which honestly at the time it probably made sense on paper. Also Pathan’s numbers and hype have surpassed everyone’s expectations so there’s that.

This is risky this close to release date. Another issue is that the original is releasing a Hindi version on YouTube or some other platform today or tomorrow I believe. And Kjo’s Selfie is releasing on the 24th. Selfie is probably flopping too but it will still take screens away from Shehzaada.

&Bold: yes that would have been a smarter move. But movie is probably doomed anyway. I suspect they wouldn’t have postponed it at all if they felt their movie had proper hype 11 days before its release. So question is can it gain anything now?

Shehzada has decent buzz, trailer was received better than TJMM, inspite of multiple bikini scenes in the latter. Songs haven't done well..so, postponing is not a good idea.
