YRF is producer AND distributor...but I've no idea if the theatres owner can hike the prices because of the share they get...

It's called dynamic ticket pricing. The prices keep changing according to the ongoing advance ticket bookings, buzz and demand. More the demand, more the price. Recently introduced system with Avatar 2.

Ah yes, this never heard of before dynamic ticket pricing was introduced last month. Not that this is dynamic pricing anyway 😆

Make sure to bring your own snacks to the movies. Unless you want to spend an extra $100 USD on a small popcorn!

No one is looting anyone. It is simple demand and supply..you still got the ticket knowing its 500 rupees right? I think that says it all..If people are buying tickets despite hiked prices..it shows the interest it has generated in audience..they can pass and wait for OTT..so no one is being looted..it is a smart strategy imo..even if they increase it to 800..people will buy tickets..the hype and craze is on another level
