There is a term called gaslighting where a person is conditioned to think in a particular fashion.

Anupamaa was gaslighted in the Joshi house before she was further gaslighted and abused in the Shah house. To make things worse, she always found a good cop against other bad cops that made her think that things are tolerable just because there is atleast one person to cling on to. It was Moti Baa first, followed by Samar and them Hasmukh after the divorce. They never gave her actual help, but just gave her a shoulder to cry on accompanied by a sense of guilt if she ever wanted to leave.

Her thought process hasn't changed much even after the divorce. The only thing is that she now thinks less of Vanraj and that too only because his EMA was revealed and it was confirmed that his unfair anger was legit and not his way of showing love.

She still considers that HasLee should not be questioned because they are elderly. CA, Anuj, Dimple or Barkha getting insulted don't bother her but she is ready to kill or die if anyone corners HasLee.

She has the compulsive urge to she protect her kids at all costs even if they are horrible human beings. The times when she decided to kick out Pakhi and refuse help to Paritosh, she said she did that for their own benefit so that they learn a lesson, to protect Anuj from being exploited was never her main intent.

She still considers Vanraj in high regard for being a good father and son while forgetting that he was able to give full attention to those duties as well as maintain a job because he was a horrible husband. It's like how many people don't want a popular celebrity to be convicted of his manslaughter crimes because he is also a philanthropist.

Basically, since she was instructed to put Shah family's happiness before her own and anyone else in the world, she is now wired to act like that. Her sense of morality and fairness to others will work fine when she is in her senses and not high on the drug called "always put Shahs first"
