What are best books on BW, cinema and stars from India?

I am looking to read good books on Indian, especially Bollywood stars, filmmakers and cinema or good biographies of BW personalities.

Plenty of books have been written on say, stars like SRK or AB Sr.

Please suggest good books on BW stars, films or by celebs themselves or books analysing Indian cinema or decoding success of films and stars or their cultural impact.

Dancing with the Nation- Courtesans in Bombay Cinema by Ruth Vanita

The book covers all the tawaif characters of Hindi cinema. Their mystique, socio-cultural background, their lovers from the different socio-economic classes, religious practices, financial arrangements and family classification,misconceptions about them are all described by giving examples from different Hindi films. It is entertaining and the filmography at the end is so worth it.

The True Love Story of Nargis & Sunil Dutt by Kishwar Desai

This covers the love story which we knew nothing about. Like how her family opposed to the wedding,their secret dates, her suicide attempt, how he was so worried that Raj would steal her from him, the way society looked down on a penniless new actor daring to love an established screen goddess. For those who wonder whether the love survived, copies of their letters and her will at the end is an ode to her love.
