So I finally watched the episode. The important parts anyway (Sorry VD, your whole thing had to be left out of my viewing plan)
I know I'm late to the party but man, do I have some strong feelings about what just went down.
I absolutely HATE the fact that they made Archana out to be the victim in this situation. Let's all be clear, woman is anything but that.
I'm not suggesting Shiv was innocent in all that transpired. To the contrary, I am happy that he was called out for his part in this whole drama. Dude was feeling invisible since past few weeks and needed a reality check but not at the expense of whitewashing Archana's clearly wrong behaviour.
Just because it got proved that she had fallen prey to Shiv's carefully curated plan, does not mean she's any less wrong for having done what she did. Like the host himself said, this is a game of provocation and only those with thick skin can survive in the show.
Archana, someone who time and again has made personal and provocative comments about everyone, lost her marbles at the slightest mention of someone/something that is dear to her. Sweetie, do not get mad when anyone pulls a you on you. If you cannot handle even just a drop of your own medicine, do not flood others with your distasteful criticisms. Her inability to take what she dishes out is not Shiv's problem, it is solely an Archana problem.
Now, I royally disagree with Salman even insinuating that Archana is to be let off the hook because Shiv used a topic that is barred to instigate Archana. Was it wrong of Shiv to do so? Yes. No two ways about it. But just because he used a topic that is not up for discussion, is what Archana did justifiable? Hell no.
Let's imagine something for a minute, Archana instead of trying to strangle Shiv had hit him with anything she could get her hands on in her hot rage, let's say she had broken a glass plate on his head. Would this logic of the makers still stand? Oh she broke a glass plate over your head but that's only because her trigger point was pressed and since you instigated her with something you shouldn't have, it is all good in the hood now. Gravity of both these mistakes is different for Pete's sake.
Shiv deserved to be exposed for what he did and that was rightly done but for that to be used a crutch to provide Archana a new lease of life in this show is so frustrating.
It should have been left at that, Shiv's deliberate attempt to lay the foundation for Archana's action exposed to the world while Archana still being shown the door as a consequence of her losing her calm and physically attacking a fellow housemate.
But rather, we get Archana back in the show feeling she's in the right for having been an idiot.
The makers do one thing right and get a dozen other things wrong.

Okay, rant khatam. 😆
