have you studied or researched that,?

small farms are unsustainable and there is enough data and reseatch to show that

poverty cannot be tackled with such a large percentage in small farming

read reports such as these and you will get an idea

https://www.igidr.ac.in/pdf/publication/WP-2012-014.pdf the bills were a starting point and the rest of all you state is hypothetical

Yeah the plenty large landlords thrive just fine. Only 28 farmers commit suicide every day, a lot of them in your Punjab. Not bad.

The implementation of the laws was wrong by Mr.Modi. He should've gone through the steps, had talks & discussions, studies & tried to educate the farmers. In essence, he should've bought about the change slowly. But the intent wasn't. The details could've been worked out.

Corporate farming is the future, whether we like it or not. Most small farms around the world run on subsidies. Small farmers around the world are extremely unprofitable & the government subsidies them so as not to make essential commodities like Milk & Bread unaffordable.

How did this become about Modi anyways? The polarizing effect that Modi has is hilarious to watch. Neither is he the next avatar of Lord Vishnu like some in the right wing believe, neither is the Devil reincarnated who is going to wipe out all minorities like the left does. He's a PM with ministers and advisors who are trying to make the best decision in the environment they are in.

I don’t believe in not having political opinion. I have kids, I care for future generations. I take active interest in politics and I have my opinions based on progress and performance of a party.
Don’t care for minority - majority rhetorics.
and I also strongly oppose Nota people. no party is dudh ki dhuli cry babies. Yes no party is, but we have to chose who is better.

Well let me make it clear. I don’t like either of those parties. India is a multi-party system unlike the USA. I definitely believe in third parties here. Heck I think the USA should switch to a multi-party systems. But I fear it would have the same result as what BJP is doing to India. It has gotten to much power. There is no way to keep it in check. Thus they get away with doing things that are against majority’s interest like the farm bills or demonetization. Or attack on freedom of the press.

I never denied the farmers suicide crisis. This wasn’t the solution. It doesn’t take away the fact that I know plenty in Punjab still doing well and were against these bills.

Once again farmer unions from all over the world signed notices that these bills are almost exactly what happened to us in 80s. There were a similar protest in the USA. Once again smaller but protesting the same kind of bills. They failed. All small farms including the ones that were doing just fine before went out of business. Bill Gates became the largest farmers and one of the only farmers. It was going to be the same way for Adanis and Ambanis.

The farmer unions that signed the statement in support to the Indian farmers were the same ones that lead the protest here in the USA during the 80s. They were right then and they are right now. Also the monopoly they were trying to create in India has happened all over the world. It is a different problem of the rich having too much influence over government and rigging the system in their favor .

Really farmers unions from all over the world signing a statement of support to the farmers in india saying this is exactly what happened to us is a hypothetical. I am aware of the farmers suicide crisis. But yes I have family in Punjab that thrives fine off of small farms. But making it a monopoly for Ambani and Adani was not a solution.

laws and policy are not made looking at anecdotes and individual stories

as i stated, you can look at the report (and there are several more from academic sources which are peer reviewed), it is well researched fro all of india and accepted that small farms are not sustainable and movement from that or modifications is essential to eliminate poverty

regarding farmers from world over saying something, i will listen to opinions of experts from nabard or igidr who have been on ground here as these are very local issues

and yes as i said the laws could have better framed and modifications could have been there but repealing is not the solution as this was the starting point

and i said that adani is going to do some takeover is hypothetical, currently the way farming is unprofitable no coporate is touching them with a barge pole, it is heavily subsidized

And there were plenty of experts who were against these bills as well. Saying that they would make the situation worse. Even those who agree that there is an issue with the farming crisis in India are looking for a solution. In fact I attend meetings every month with experts. But these bills would have made the situation worse. It was sold as free market solution. What they were going to do is monopolize the entire industry over to one person. It is not hypothetical! Then what your saying these bills were going to improve the situation is also hypothetical. Small farms are not sustainable so put the small farmers out business?

Farmers in India 250 million that protested do not know what they are talking about. Farmers from all over the world do not know what they are talking about. Some experts who you have not even shared do.
