Lol MSP def supports farmers and not the privileged few. Let’s say this MSP is what farmers get from the mandi. It is then corporations that overprice the crops whatever they might be when they sell them to consumers.

It isn’t small farms that are cause of environmental concerns. It is rather the corporations buying the crops.

It is not about corporates overpricing the produce, it is about what the farmers are getting in the whole mandi system with infrastructure issues, high commission charges, issues of transport, high dependency on middle-men. Sure interventions such as eNAM have been intended to make it easier but the distress continues due to a lot of infra logistics issues still.

The more we try to depress the competition, the poorer the investments and continuing will be the distress because we are not letting the market dynamics do their thing and without that all the Government intervention, income support will only be rendered useless eventually in the long run.

Also with respect to MSP and small farmers, please check the scale of farmers, the crop and the states majorly availing the benefit. In addition, please check the geography and conditions that are required for growth of one of the majorly procured crops under MSP and why continuation of a policy without a pause since decades has led to us worrying about water being guzzled and soil health deteriorating, one of the biggest problems is that the production is still being governed and directed by an age old intervention and not as per the agro-climatic conditions as it should ideally be.

This debate should’ve been over when OP started using “moneycontrol.com”, “digboston.com”, “peoplesworld.org” to support their points. I would’ve flunked out of school if my lecturers caught me using these random websites and passing them off as valid sources.😆

Yeah and it ain't getting built either. Why should Punjab share it's water with other states, it is our state's matter. We are the only state that is being forced to do water goodwill when we can't afford to, so no wonder it has been stopped. Punjab is an agricultural state, I don't see why you were trying to get Gurgaon and IT cities into this.. it has never aimed to go that way either.

Umm...No

There's multiple water disputes in the country. The Godavari water dispute between Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka. The Narmada Water dispute between Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh. The Cauvery Water Dispute between Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu to name a few. Also, it's NOT your water, it's the country's water. No end to the amount of propaganda that's being fed by the separatists.

Punjab will be a desert like Rajasthan in another 200 years due to the agricultural practices of Punjabi farmers & their love for water-intensive crops(Only because they are on the MSP list).

As for being an agricultural state, go ahead. Don't Develop but then don't blame the government as to why Punjab isn't "Rich" anymore. It's this rural mindset that has led to the downfall of Punjab.

I did not expect such a discussion under the title "What is happening to the world" although it was an interesting read with - among others - three different approaches to the farmer's situation.

I noticed that one member obviously replaced her written posts with the same gif over & over again (but they got quoted, so these 'gems' didn't get lost...).

For someone with European roots but a vivid interest for how India is seen by Indians living in India and by those living outside India such discussions are always a learning experience.

I edited my posts because I didn’t want to get into this discussion in the first place. Completely my fault that I gave in. I know you can still see my posts. But I just wanted to remove my postings from here.

Separatists sentiments disguised as care for farmers. (Jaisi jiski soch)

But what makes me very sad is humans normally accepting beheadings as everyday thing in a democracy and do not have the heart to criticize it. They embrace enablers coz well they hate establishment.

I have decided to never indulge with goobear supporters. I don’t want that level of dehumanization in my life.

Sorry to the posters who liked my posts. Hope you can understand. Ciao!!
