you think small farmers are doing business now and are sustainable?

a small farmer does not produce enough to be profitable, they migratte and become labor or commit suicide

simple example: small farmers couldnt transport what they produce especially during covid, they neither have transportation nor storage, they wait for buyers who pick at farm gate which does not happen for all crops or locations. payment is not immediate as they rely on others to transport, they then migrate and do labor, save money and go back and sow for next season or pawn jewelry

even now they are in clutches on middle men, not in some idyllic situation

it is not simple and one can't compare US to India, geopgraphy, history, farming practices are all different

aggregation is the way to be sustainable, as I said how that is done can be debated

the farm laws are a starting point of what has been recommended by most experts who have any idea of the problems on the ground, yes the details can be debated

Whatever floats your boat.

Are you even reading what I am saying ? I said India declined this much in democratic rankings during the emergency! AFTER the emergency it did fine. Now india it is declining again.

It is not just farm bills. He has taken over media. He has jailed journalist among many other things that have lead to the decline in rankings .

The fact is the matter is that millions of Indian people still make a living off of small Farms. They would have no where to go.

You don’t like BJP and modi. Well and fair. everyone has their opinions. I don’t like Modi either. Where is the universal civil code after all 8 years? I’d support him when he brings in same laws for every citizen of India. Constitutional equality!!

But you giving free pass to congress for 1984 genocide and holding AB Jr. responsible for it, it’s like mind boggling hypocrisy.

I never did that ! One hand I am separatist. Another hand I gave congress a free pass for 1984. Make up your mind.

you wouldn't have them migrating to cities doing labor and menial jobs or commiting suicides if they were making a "living"

pls understand the ground reality

There are plenty in india that thrive just fine of it. These bills would have made the situation worse. They created a monopoly for Bill Gates to basically become the only farmer in the USA. They would have done the same for the Ambani and Adanis here .
