Today's episode made me think that more than anything else in a relationship compatibility is very important. Otherwise live can become a living hell.
Dev And Amba: zero compatibility, their thoughts do not match. Dev cannot stand Amba. Amba is in love with the idea of being Dev's wife. But think about it, the way Dev treats Amba, I don't understand why she wants to marry him. They should give some justification for her obsession.
Abhimanyu And Priya: They don't respect each other, there is a constant environment of tension in the house because of them. On the surface they seem like a perfect couple, correct age gap ,a cute daughter. The way Priya taunts him for cooking, I feel extremely bad. Imagine your life partner taunting you for something you really like. Same with Abhimanyu, he does not support Priya and her ambition. It seems both of them are being suffocated in the relationship.
Vidhi And Arjun: Another prospective couple in the show, Arjun is a sweet guy, who adores Vidhi's qualities. But he does not understand where she comes from, her family values. Today he was joking about the poster issue with Dev. Even if they get married, will it be a good match. Today Vimla was trying to persuade Hariprasad about them. According to Hariprasad perfect age gap is most important. I cringed at his thought process, there are a lot of couples who at the surface look incompatible, but have a deep and beautiful relationship.
Dev and Vidhi: frankly I think they are soulmates who complete each other. They understand each other, there is respect in their relationship. They value each other's qualities. It's true they have a huge age gap. But if you compare them with so called perfect couples or prospective couples, you would feel that their connection is so beautiful does age really matter.
Hariprasad's thinking in most matters is very stupid. So his thinking that age gap should be perfect rest all is about adjusting to each other is wrong. I feel for Vimla, the way he lashes out at her. Is their marriage good? He just wants his wife and daughter to follow his oders. Do share your thoughts.
Beautifully written!
You captured the essence of the show in your post. Without respect and understanding, any relationship is fruitless. A huge age gap might seem weird at first glance and same age couple might look lovely and perfect in first instance but it's through our eyes we are seeing their relationship. It's not what we onlookers see is important, it's what amidst them is important.
You pointed this out very accurately, how seemingly normal relationships are actually suffocating and limiting and how a seemingly abnormal relationship is liberating and empowering. This show is about challenging societal norms of what's perfect and what's not and how first impressions might be false at times. Only when you truly know someone, should you pass any judgement on them, this is the lesson everybody should embrace.
Please do. would love to know your take on this. Initially I used to think that Arjun might also be good for Vidhi. But today's episode made me think otherwise.
For most people physical appearance is more important is . Even I like Vijun together, but now its a big no for me.
Exactly my thought earlier. I was scared that he looked so good for her that Dev would definitely back away and even try to ship them together for Vidhi's sake. But I had forgotten his UK influence and class difference then.
Apart from being okay with the poster, there is one more thing that bothered me about Arjun in this sequence. He could not read Vidhi at all, let alone predicting her thoughts like Dev did. The moment Dev saw the poster, without even looking at Vidhi, he knew that she would disapprove of it, like he knew Vidhi would not wear that dress in that party just to fit in, let alone drink. But Arjun, he is just lost in his own feelings for Vidhi, he could not read her sad and disappointed face.

I really think that Hariprashad is made to portray the typical conservative father. I can relate to this as I have a rather conservative father myself.
As for the other relationships prese t, most of them seem toxic at best, Abhimanyu-Priyanka they seem to limit each other. Like, they can't even compromise. Also, their love is 1-sided as told by Priya. This girl has the right to be so frustrated tbh. She didn't get married to someone of her choice nor do something with her degree, neither at her father's place nor after being married. Her dreams were killed by all. And even if she wants to do something even secretly, she's unable to. And her husband doesn't even support her. And Abhimanyu, he got married to someone he loves but who doesn't reciprocate it back, has the stress and pressure of being the owner and rightful heir of Raichand Enterprise. He never got to do something he loved due without having those pressures. This creates a toxic environment for their child to stay in. They should consider counseling if not divorce. (Im talking as if it's a real couple, but props to the actors who made it so)
Great take on Abhi and Priya's relationship. And many couples live like this throughout their lives just for appearance sake. And to add, Priya married Abhi for the money and power thinking he would be the heir to the Raichand empire and her constant frustration shows this. Abhi married Priya for love but most likely he fell in love with her beauty and not her charecter, which made him fall out of love with her later on. Both are at fault here.

Yes exactly. Hariprasad is the charecter depicting the society's typical view about all things, including daughters don't work, the perfect age to marry off daughters, perfect age gap thing and so on.

The bold 1, well, if not for love at least she's in it for the money, which she also ended up not getting. She's at a loss all the 8 sides if you see well. Even though she's in it for the greed, what we should see here is that she was stuck with no choice of her own to get married for love who couldn't respect her decision for a career nor her being self-sufficient. I understand her actually and she's not always wrong. She feels suffocated tbh same as I did.
