Group 1 is still wide open, anything is possible. If NZ lose against Ireland in their next game, they are probably out of the tournament.
Tomorrow there will be another double-header as Zimbabwe take on Netherlands, and India lock horns with Bangladesh.
Yes. India has to win both matches with good margin in order to have a high NRR so that Bangladesh doesnโt qualify for Semifinal.
England won by 20 runs
ENG - 179/6 (20)
NZ - 159/6 (20)
CRR: 7.95
Player of the Match
Jos Buttler
Congrats Eng
With that win, England jump to the number 2 spot in the points table. And that's also New Zealand's first loss of the tournament. Electing to bat first, the England openers got their team off to a fantastic start. Both - Hales and Buttler notched up their respective half-centuries and laid the platform, and although the batters who followed next couldn't contribute anything substantial, England finished with a pretty competitive total in their allotted 20 overs, mainly due to the contributions by the openers. In reply, the NZ openers couldn't give their team the desired start, and although there was a partnership between Williamson and Phillips, England took wickets at regular intervals. Their death bowling was pretty tidy as the Blackcaps couldn't get those much needed boundaries. The big-hitters, all of them, they came, and they departed without doing much damage. Was never going to be easy to clear the big boundaries at the Gabba and the bowlers kept the pressure maintained towards the end. All in all, England will be quite happy with their all-round performance. Australia (NRR) will be in a spot of bother with England's clinical show
England bowling in last six overs (15-20) this Australia tour
48/6 v Aus, Perth
56/2 v Aus, Canberra
30/7 v Afg, Perth
41/7 v Ire, Melbourne
45/4 vs NZ, Brisbane
India vs Bangladesh will be interesting
The other match is boring

NZ has to buckle up ๐
Well done England ๐๐ผ
India winning Bangladesh would be a 75 towards India and I would give 25% to Bangladesh. This is purely because we have seen India's track record and I hope they keep playing well instead of getting over confident and loosing the game.
Zimbabwe and Netherlands would be a match which can go either way I guess. Betting on Netherlands to win, let's see โญ๏ธ
NZ's first defeat, was their game to lose. Great Powerplays early on. ๐๐ผ
What an excellent result for England !!! They beat a team I thought was a huge fav and in top form for this WC. Should definitely be a boost in the arm for their confidence. T20 cricket (even more so than other formats) can really have a diff result vs any team on any day !!!
Congrats Team England ๐พ๐พ๐พ๐พ
