Days have turned into weeks and weeks have turned into months. The only constant in the last three months is the suffering of loyal Michians who wait and wait and wait - some patiently, but most, impatiently - with no sign of hope or redemption. Well this reminds me of a couple of anecdotes I had heard as a student. Thought I will share it with you.
Two frogs were put in two saucepans filled with water. One saucepan was heated to boiling point and the other was left to simmer in low heat. What would have been the fate of the frogs?
Surprisingly the frog which was put in the pan in which the water was made to boil survived because as soon as he felt the burning water he hopped out. The frog in the other pan which was left to simmer ultimately died a slow and painful death. Why? It was because the poor guy did not realise that the water was getting hot as the heat was slowly building up. His body was getting adjusted to the new temperature. So he did not realise what was awaiting him and remained put in the saucepan. As the water kept getting hotter and hotter, his feet just kept getting numb. When he realised it was too hot for his survival, it was too late because his feet had become so numb he just could not move and the poor chap died.
Here is another story. There is this parrot which sat on a silk cotton plant waiting for the pod to rippen, thinking that it will turn into a fruit which it can then consume. It did not search for any other food but kept waiting patiently on this plant. After many days, the pod did rippen. Only it did not turn into a fruit as the parrot expected but instead broke open and the silk cotton flew in the air, leaving a dejected parrot hungry after its long fruitless wait.
So what do these two stories have in common with the loyal Michians? Michians are like the frog in the saucepan which was made to simmer in slow heat. This PA track is the slow heat. The track has been devoid of any large scale or volatile show of emotions, be it anger, betrayal, passion, hate, pain etc.
Everything appears OK on the surface. Milsi has fallen in love with Prachi, although he does not remember he is married to her. Prachi still loves Milsi although she cannot tell it to him for fear of harming him. They keep throwing us a few crumbs here and there in the form of a few eye locks, a kiss in the rain, a couple of hand holding. But yet we have not got what we wanted, a proper Michi reunion. The heat is being slowly turned up by way of Ayesha plotting her marriage to Milsi and trying to hook up NP together. This plot has been going on for more than a month now - like the simmering heat. We, like the frog, want to desperately get out before it gets too hot to handle. But, alas, our feet have become numb, our senses have become numb, our whole beings have become numb. So we wait in this state , pathetically awaiting the day when all this will end.
Michians can also be compared with the parrot that awaited the cotton pod to break open.
At the end of it all will OGF end up saving us from the boiling water? Will he give us the fruit of an untainted Michi reunion? Or will he end up killing us with a cross marriage? Will our dreams of a happy Michi reunion be like flaks of silk cotton flying in the air after the long wait? Only time and OGF can tell.
