Doesn’t matter what she married for. Doesn’t give the family any right to treat her shoddily. We can still call out the family’s shitty behaviour irrespective of her reasons to marry into this family.

Vivek is always a rebound, a shield she tried to use against Salman. She was in an abusive relationship . She should have ended that relationship on a better note but it still makes sense why she dated him. Abhishek back then seemed to have it all. Family name , wealth and beginning of a successful career. Many people called it a fairy tale wedding because it all seemed too good to be true.

No one really knows what people are like until they actually live under the same roof. Social gatherings, work meetings do not reveal much. Maybe she saw some flaws but thought she would manage. I don’t think anyone anticipated Jr’s career going south so quickly. From my observation, that’s when things turned sour.

Salman is known to be extremely charming. Can sweep a girl off her feet very easily. Look at the women he’s dated, all beautiful women who could have any man they wanted. His other ex Sangeeta Bijrani was Ms India too and much more famous that him when they started dating.

These guys also ruin mental health of kids and drive them to suicide or learned helplessness wherein person neither lives nor dies and puts up facade of perfect, respectable family with prestige and honour. All Kapoor women for eg have stayed despite affairs of men and regressive family except Babita, just to maintain facade of izzatdaar khandaan.

I wonder how long will Ranbir, Neetu and Riddhima's facade of supporting Alia's career will last. Kapoors are never okay with DILs working in films as actors. I believe Alia will also slowly shift gears like Ash.

Even if I don’t like Ash much I can feel for her. But Alia herself is a bad person and choose Ranbir and his crazy family. Shweta has a video out where she can barely walk. (Maybe it was removed) Aish hardly even looks drunk and she has been in the public eye for a long time.

I don't know whether to feel bad for her as she too is a victim of Bachchan's backward thinking. Or to dislike her for her jealousy and snooty attitude towards Aish.

From what I have observed I feel at first the Bachchans were happy to have a famous star as a bahu as they were seen attending every red carpet of Ash's international appearances from Cannes to Pink Panther premiere and basking in the international media attention she was getting their son and family.

Ash and Abhi were promoted on international media as an Indian power couple, Abhishek the scion of the first family of BW and his beauty queen turned star wife who is sanskari at heart. They went on Oprah and stuff to talk about their relationship, their whole wedding and the first few years of marriage were termed as a fairytale wedding by the media. They were a brand like the current Virushka or DeepVeer.

The family enjoyed the attention they got by being associated with Ash and in turn perhaps thought all this hoopla and media attention they get by association with Aish will take their son's career and brand to a higher stage. Things did not go as they planned Abhishek flopped and started getting replaced by the younger actors and he had to resort to doing second lead roles in other stars movies while his wife was still getting lead roles in big movies. I think this was the breaking point. The patriarchal family could not see their bahu's career flourishing while son's went downhill. They are superstitious too I won't be surprised if they blame Aishwarya for everything.

Even with Abhishek I don't think he is as cool about Aishwarya being a bigger stat than he is as he lets on. I remember a pap video from an award show or maybe one of Ash film premiere where Abhishek angrily walks away from her despite Aishwarya desperately trying to hold on to him so they can take couple pics just because paps were calling her name. Even the HNY situation where Ash rejected lead role because Abhishek was the second lead comes to mind.

But he I feel genuinely loves her so does try his best to support her despite his insecurities.

Despite all the issues Aishwarya still work so I think she has learn to handle the in laws and hubby and is doing things she want. Aishwarya's world revolve around her daughter so understandable that she is not taking up much work these days like she did before but yes, she has let some work go because of the effect they will have on family dynamics too.
