Imtiaz Ali's daughter Ida Ali begins new chapter, announces engagement to Krish Agarwal

Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali's daughter, Ida Ali, has announced her engagement to longtime partner Krish Agarwal. The filmmaker and writer shared the news on social media on Sunday, giving followers a glimpse of the proposal through a beachside video and a series of photographs.

The video opens with views of a quiet beach surrounded by mountains before Ida reveals her diamond engagement ring. She is seen smiling as she covers her face in surprise. Krish later joins her in the frame, and the couple poses for a selfie against the scenic backdrop.

Sharing the video, Ida captioned the post, "01/07/26 11pm Ytresand," referring to the date, time and location of the proposal. In another post, she shared photographs from the proposal, including the moment Krish went down on one knee. Keeping the caption brief, she simply wrote, "Yes."

Soon after the announcement, friends and members of the film industry congratulated the couple. Actors Sharvari and Vedang Raina were among the first to react. Social media personalities and celebrities including Sakshi Shivdasani, Orry, Manjari Fadnis and Aaliyah Kashyap also extended their wishes in the comments section.

Ida, 26, has been building a career in filmmaking and writing over the past few years. She first came into the spotlight after directing the short film Lift at the age of 17. She later wrote the Amazon miniTV romantic drama Uljhe Hue and launched Refresh, a digital platform focused on conversations around youth and mental health.

She also delivered a TEDx talk on pursuing creative ambitions and studied filmmaking at Chapman University's Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in California.

While Krish Agarwal has largely stayed away from the public eye, he has appeared in several of Ida's social media posts over the years. The couple has occasionally shared moments from their travels and personal life online, though they have largely kept their relationship private.

With the engagement now official, the couple has received congratulatory messages from across the entertainment industry. They have not yet shared details about their wedding plans, but their announcement has drawn attention on social media, with fans and well wishers celebrating the milestone.
