It’s very easy to be a hustler or ambitious when you know that Karan Johar will fight for you.

If there’s one thing Sadak2 and Brahmstra reviews have shown us is that Alia is only as good as the scripts. Without her last name KJo wouldn’t have picked her and without KJo there wouldn’t have been a Highway, an Udta Punjab, and a Raazi. There wouldn’t have been a Gangubai or a Dear Zindagi. And since she’s short, has a baby face, has no sex appeal, and no dancing ability she wouldn’t have been able to follow in Katrina’s foot steps either. Even if she had somehow made it into the industry she would be where Kriti Kharbanda in terms of fame and popularity.

In Alia’s own words, her biggest struggle was telling KJo and Abhishek Varman that she’ll be very upset with them if they don’t cast her in Kalank. So I don’t get how she’s a hustler. She’s an entitled privileged industry kid who’s been extremely fortunate to have Karan Johar use his positions to get the best scripts for her and aggressively market her. As an outsider she would have never had that privilege.

She would not have made it. She is a decent actress. But very average looking. For nepotism products it is 50 percent chance. For outsiders it is a 1 in a millions chance. She can hustle all she wants. But entertainment is not one of those professions where hard work guarantees success. Although I have heard about Aamir’s good work ethic with a few other actors. Even Meghna Gulzar said Deepika preps more for the character. Alia is a very spontaneous actor. No one actually praised her for her work ethic. She might be very hard working. I don’t know.

There are prettier girls struggling with more talent than her. I am sure they all would be willing to work very hard and even give up a leg or arm to get the opportunities she did.

Alia is cunning and ambitious for sure, so is majority of girls who stays in Mumbai . Good number of them are from modeling background and are good looking but for them even getting audition call is difficult. Everyone knows that Alia was just a below average overweight girl (as per bollywood standard)before her bollywood entry . Forget about Karan , I cannot even imagine B list directors casting her in their movie. However like many other outsiders if she was ready for compromises and by doing so if she gets a chance to act in movie,her career would end with one movie if her acting was anything similar to SOTY days. The struggle of outsiders is mainly in getting an entry and then surprising the industry in the very first chance. There is no second chance for average looking actress in mainstream Bollywood .

Thank you for saying this. People here really gotta reassess what they mean by hustler. With her plain jane looks she would have been relegated to best friend roles at best. The opportunity to even be cast in roles like Highway, Udta Punjab wouldn't have come near her. Her career is carefully crafted and built with showcasing her strong points. Never in her entire filmography has she stepped out of her comfort zone. One example is right after the KWK debacle when she was just a movie old, KJo with AIB's help tried to spin the GK thing into "her being able to laugh at herself" with a full video and what not. They tried to alter public perception of her, never mind if she actually felt that way. Sure, a newbie would have a chance to do that. Before someone says it was because Rohan was dating Shaheen, you know that just ain't it.

Not every hustler gets to the point where they want to be. They crash and burn before they could ever attain any semblance of success. It's amazing how easily people here disregard privilege like it's not the governing factor in all her career path so far.

The world would be a different place with all the what-ifs, the speculations can be never ending. Only thing that matters is facts. Queen Alia be ruling the roost as of now. 😎

If Alia was not nepo kid, she would probably ended up in starting a business or would have been part of top management. Her company would have employed members of boycott gang. Most of the boycott gang is college educated 9 to 5 types which does not want much responsibilities at work place. She would be their boss forcing them to complete their projects on time. Plus corporate travels, meetings and conferences would have taken majority of her time.
