No, yūpa is the upright pole where the sacrificial animal is tied, while vedi is each of the three altars where the fires are maintained.

You are looking at Droṇaparvan 131.13, right? Yuyudhāna Sātyaki does not address Somadatta as Mṛdaṅgaketu there. He says to Somadatta, "That Mṛdaṅgaketu's energy has slain you already, and in battle you will perish along with Karṇa and Saubala."
