Raksha Bandhan Extended Five Day Weekend Business

Raksha Bandhan went the same way as Laal Singh Chaddha as it collected almost 34 crore nett over its extended five day weekend. This film has also faced rejection even though some places have managed okay collections in hindi circuits but these will come down now the weekend and holiday period is over.

The film basically lost whatever chance it had on Saturday as it did not go up and from there it was an uphill battle. the collections on the big holiday on Monday needed to be far higher than the opening day but not only were they lower than day one but also lower than Sunday. .

The film will no doubt have a big drop on Tuesday and it remains to be seen if the film can get over the 50 crore nett mark in the long run. Not that it has achieved much if it gets there. It has been a sad weekend for the film industry but as as been mentioned in these reports after each so called shocker there are more to come and still there maybe a few more left until the content changes in accordance to the mass and youth of the day. Both Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan had nothing for that male mass and youth segment which forms bulk of the cinema going audience today and hence the collections. The extended five day weekend collections of Raksha Bandhan are as follows.

Thursday - 8,00,00,000 apprx

Friday - 6,25,00,000 apprx

Saturday - 5,75,00,000 apprx

Sunday - 7,25,00,000 apprx

Monday - 6,50,00,000 apprx

TOTAL - 33,75,00,000 apprx

Seriously i wonder how Mrs Funny bones who is often very opinionated and doesn't shy away from expressing those did not find it regressive..she was very vocal about karwa chauth and how its regressive..does she not have similar complaints here? or she views it with a different lens coz this is hubby's movie..did not expect this from her..better to have stayed silent instead

akshay was so good in the movie,weeks back my brother and I were watching bhool bhulaiya too and we are of the opinion that he is quite an underrated actor.

I don’t think there’s any leading actor in Bollywood who can surpass Akshay when it comes to comedy.
