Not just the 'rich' (obviously they are rich by Indian standards), here in UK I've had a lot of colleagues in the IT sector, who stayed here for 10+years, had kids etc, got the British passport and then moved back to India (especially once their kids were pre-teens) .

Their logic is that the British passport makes a lot of things (especially travelling to EU/US) way easier. And they want that for their children.

These are the criteria to become a permanent resident of Canada

- as a skilled employee (specific skills and trades)

- be a provincial nominee (fulfill certain criteria that provinces are looking for)

- graduate or work in New Brunswick, PEI, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia

- invest in a job-creating business

- immigrate as a self-employed person in cultural or athletic activities

- be a certain ag-industry worker

- get sponsored by an immediate family member

- be a caregiver to a person in need

- apply as a refugee

You are eligible to apply for citizenship 5 years after gaining permanent residency provided you meet a few additional criteria. I can see AK easily immigrating under the bolded criteria. He could live in Canada while making money of Bollywood movies.

There are certain countries that let you buy residency or get residency by buying property up to a certain value, Canada is not one of them. People who claim to have bought Canadian citizenship are either mega bullshitters or are idiots who do not know the difference between investing and buying or they paid some shady person to start a business in your name that becomes a front for said shady person to launder money or paid a shady person to fudge documents or paid a coyote to get them illegally in.

Also, note - India does not support dual citizenship. Anyone who obtains citizenship from any country other than India automatically renounces their Indian citizenship.
