Log criticize kar rahe ki Karan ignored ki it was a satire on male gaze and kept saying she looked hot

My concern -

1) Satire word to use hota hai to criticize something with humour, did she use wrong word to describe it?

2) Ye satire tha ya statement tha lekin did it work or it backfired?

Point against Satire +

Maybe it's me but I don't see how that song is a commentary on Male gaze, considering the movie itself celebrates and glorifies normative ideas of masculinity.

Point in favour -

#READ THE FRICKING TRANSLATION OF THE LYRICS

I think the makers knew very well that the northern audience wouldn't care to check the lyrics and focus on the shots. The southern on the other hand (especially the telegu understanding audience) would go ham on them with how the lyrics blame men for sexualising women. But they got what they wanted for the North. I've seen 40yo men dance like crazy to lyrics saying "you're not gonna care whether the woman is tall or short, fat or thin, wears a saree or skirt, are you?", all the while having no idea what they're listening to

If that isn't satire, idk what is

Lindsay Ellis did a video on this same thing years ago. She used Transformers (the first one) as an example. She said that the script says that Megan fox's character was a smart mechanic but the camera says sexy hot woman bimbo.

And in a visual medium, the camera takes priority. The same happens here. Even though the song satirizes the male gaze, the camera completely objectifies her. And Karan's takeaway is actually the one that audiences took away at the end of the movie

I like how Karan is, meh, I don't care about your views or what you are trying to say, you looked hot, you don't want to be objectified in that song, but guess who runs this side of the town?

They could have just left it as a sexy song like Shiela ki jawani and I’d even buy that it’s just a female happy with her expression of sexuality …

This whole woke spin they tried to give it a meek attempt at making it seem acceptable …almost like Sam knew she will get criticism for it after her holier than thou ness over the years, but she wanted the popular item number in her profile …

So she plays a woman dancing suggestively in front of millions of men and making their lechyness seem like “it’s a guy thing”

Yeh didn’t buy her whole “oh I did it coz it was a satire on the male gaze “

I don’t even think she fully understood the lyrics given they are written in rural slang/ chittor based Telugu…Sam can barely get a few sentences right in Telugu without grammatical errors and throwing a few English words in …

Not convinced with the whole satire argument. It is an item song, simple and clear.

I agree the lyrics were great and definetly a satire and a comment on male gaze but it would have come out only if the visuals also brought out the irony which it did not

maybe a parody of an item song would have been the way to picturize, there are so many familiar tropes in item songs, they could have made fun of it

right now except few nonbody focussed on the lyrics

this kjo for all his sophisticated pretensions actually is quite shallow, he barely understands a layer deeper or makes the effort unless someone tells him it is posh

I can only share my experience mai ye song bahut bar suna hu lekin iska shayad Telugu version hai wo usme merko lyrics to samjha nahi tha

It was a satire ye merko pata chala when Samantha said it

Fir to ye work kiya nahi kyonki ki visually it didn't look like a satire

On the other hand OSO was satire on male gaze usme Om bolta hai ki picture chalegi item number se fir wo khud item number karta hai

To waha samajh me aya ki kya bolna chah raha hai maker
