Ham sabko pata hai about Arjun Reddy/Kabir Singh everyone hates him and Maine film nahi dekhi so from what I hear he was glorified in the film

Lekin Gangubai bhi to glorify Hui thi, she was a mafia queen, you don't get the tag by helping people, Mafia has a meaning

What are your views on glorification of such characters?

Gabgubai was a victim herself, she was sold to a brothel by her "husband" . And she made lives of women who had nowhere to go better. The thing is women who are forced to work in red light areas don't just blend into society, even if sent the girls back would their families accept them?

Kabir singh was a guy who just played victim when he himself made the situations worse.

Because gangubai is a biography n set in 1950s n still she fought for women's rights. Women after coming to brothel would also not be accepted by their families so she tried to make them strong n earn their rights there only.

But arjun reddy is a fictional character who is a highly educated n intelligent doctor n set in new era n still find it ok to slap his GF just because her father is not ready for marriage.

Kabir Singh was a toxic misogynist who arm-twisted a woman into loving him and became obsessed with her.

Gangubai was a woman who though forced into prostitution made the lives of those around her better with whatever resources she could muster.

They are poles apart.

One represents the worst of masculinity, other represents a woman who fought hard to lend some dignity to those around her.

It's not even feminism or masculinity, it's about values.

Gangubai was a real person, bud. She was a survivor of prostitution racket who tried to help other women forced into same situation. She brought education to their children. She went to politicians to legalize prostitution so the women at least wouldn't be at risk for exploitation on that level also.

Dislike for Alia aside, why are you attacking someone who actually did good in this world?

Kabir Singh was a whiny victim-player abuser. And FICTIONAL.

I am not much familiar with the original gangubai but the power dynamics are different when it comes to a woman in 1950's red light area vs a delhi ka upper class ladka with a silver spoon.

Gangu made the best of the cards she was dealt with, see i get it, she could have closed the brothel but things aren't as black and white, where would have those women gone or what would have they done for a living? Gangubai wasn't some saint but she did whatever was in her hands to make the lives of those women better. i don't think the movie really whitewashed her.
