The issue is not that he used to say this as a kid but that he is fully capable of saying the same thing even now, except while pretending that he is a changed man who has immense respect for the language and reads Dinkar every night. 😆

"Karan's mom Hiroo Johar is sister to Yash Chopra."

Not true. Karan himself said in an interview like him his mom was also the only child. Besides Hiroo is Sindhi, Yash Chopra was Punjabi. I guess, KJo never corrected this cousin thing to show the world he's khandaani powerful person. But the truth is KJo's dad was a smallfry as a director/producer.

Karan and his pompous ass. Did he think he’d look cool and upmarket for revealing such a stupid comment. How mythologically downmarket of him

This sort of attitude seems to be all over Bollywood now... CRINGE 🤢 Here I am wishing they'd speak more Hindi in HINDI film industry.

you know right, that he used to talk about this when he was a kid? Whether he holds the same thoughts now is a different discussion, but the excerpt from his book is about his kid self - well before he started making movies

Yes, I do. But his attitude during his interviews still reflects the same thought process he used to have as a kid. Showboat! It always amazes me how these so called Hindi movies' celebrities love to talk only in English. There are hardly any actors left who flaunt Hindi like they do English.

Why is speaking in English flaunting? Maybe they are a lot more comfortable with English than with Hindi for interviews - whats wrong with that? Also most of the media outlets covering these stars are English centric

As non-existent an issue as it can get

Just because I am at a Hindi movie forum typing in English right now, I am flaunting my English skills?

You can be more comfortable with English, but calling Hindi "downmarket" and "uncool" is out of order. Especially considering it IS the language of the films he produces.

It is actually funny, because these same celebrities make so many grammar mistakes when speaking English as well. Ek bhi zubaan dhang se nahi bol sakte.

Cuz I've seen these celebrity people speaking comfortably in Hindi during their interactions with media personnel (yes, I keep watching their random videos on Insta 😆) Moreover, the way they speak English exhibits flaunting and showing-off. May be it could only be me who thinks this way but that is what I think.

And no my friend, just because we both are at Hindi forum and still writing in English, we are not flaunting (atleast I can say about me) 😅 but because we both don't know whether we know Hindi so well as English.
