No more than Kangana was after doing Thalaivi and hiring Bahubali scriptwriter for Manikarnika.

Aishwarya Rai is very much a south Indian actor. She debuted  in films with Maniratnam's Tamil film Iruvar. 

Maniratnam and Aishwarya Rai collaborated in a few films after that too. 

She acted in quite a few Tamil films.

Her association with South Indian Films is quite strong and long standing.

She seems to be Maniratnam's muse.

Yes, she has finalized her dates too as per this report.

The director's credits include Kolamavu Kokila, Doctor and Beast. The first two were successful, the last one was a failure.

She was born in Mangalore, Karnataka but was brought up in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
