But isn't it better for them to upload those on external sites, like they were doing till now? Stuff like siggys are sharable most of the times, so they would need to upload it on image sharing platforms anyway.

Space on servers is a costly resources. Let's see how it goes. Already members are spamming by uploading test images 😆

Yeah but the thing is that many siggy makers, in fact most of them left IF after the site was shifted to this new design. This new feature couldve encouraged them to come back and the dead siggy forum to become active again.

Am not sure about the siggy galleries but I cant agree more that server space will become a concern if we dont give a certain default lifespan to images. In forums, topic posts themselves are not valid after a certain period of time.

A dropdown where we choose the lifespan looks like a good option but may make things a bit complicated as well as easy to forget to use when needed.

Can a default lifespan be given only to images uploaded directly in tv forum topic posts? Or those forums where by default images need not stay too long.

Also, what happens when posts with images are quoted?

If the image is deleted from the server, it will automatically disappear from quoted posts and anywhere else too.

Until then will it take up space? Because one post with images can be quoted many times so that many times the image gets replicated? Or does the quoted post just link to the original image?

Well we will cross the bridge when we come to it. 😊

At the moment we just need to ensure that there is no misuse / image spam.

Basically, the image is uploaded once on the server then it's link is used every where. So quoting will not increasing the space usage because the same link is used.
