I am so torn right now... Between supporting Zoya and trying to understand Asad
I just hope Asad is able to win her back and make efforts get her forgiveness.. It's not gonna be easy but I just want them both to be happy soon..
Waiting
Amazing update! Love our fiery Zoya! Asad knows his mistake and I really hope it’s not too late for them.
Zoya is having nightmares about Asad leaving her….that is so heartbreaking…
I wonder where Asad’s sister is…

Lost Without You
Chapter 20A: Deal of Fate
It had been a while now. She had been avoiding him for months. Hundreds of missed calls, messages and emails were piled up on her phone. She hadn't deleted them. She couldn't delete them. He had been visiting Karen frequently, for some 'work'. But he would convince Karen to let him work with Zoya. Zoya, ultimately, would worm her way out of it.
It was just painful, the way he'd look into her eyes, begging her to come to him. It was too much of an offer to resist, yet she has to resist it. This was driving her insane!
On the other hand, Mitch was also trying to convince her and make her hear Asad's side out. She was baffled by this sudden change in Mitch's opinions. What was wrong with everyone?!
What she saw flashed before her eyes. Tanveer in Asad's shirt. Him acting as though he'd never even met her.
There is no side! I saw what happened with my own eyes. He didn't even give me a chance! Why should I give him one?
"Farooqui!" A shrill voice zapped her out of her reverie. She fumbled pitifully with her stylus and dropped it on her desk. Her gaze skittered up to meet Karen's and she swallowed a lump in her throat. "You have to go somewhere today."
"W-what?" Zoya stuttered. Her boss rolled her eyes. "I-I mean, I still have to work on the DC project. It's yet to be edited as per the new blueprints. They're always changing them!"
"I believe Mitch will be able complete it. Your partner for this project is waiting in the car outside. Get your coat and hurry!" Karen barked at her and she rushed to get her coat and other stuff.
Wonder who the partner is. I just hope it isn't...
Speed-walking her confused self out the office, she saw a jet black Range Rover waiting for her just outside the entrance. The windows were also tinted black. She gulped and knocked at the drivers window. The door behind clicked open, filled with nervousness, she climbed in, wondering why they were being so mysterious. As soon as she sat, the doors were locked, she furrowed her brows and looked around. She hadn't even noticed someone sitting beside her.
Wait a minute. She knew this silhouette. This figure. It was him.
"Uh, hi." Said the familiar baritone voice that gave her shivers.
"YOU-" Zoya tried screaming but was stopped by Asad's hand on her mouth. It wasn't forced, it wasn't pushing. Rather it was soft, softer than she'd ever felt. His hand stayed there as gentle as ever. There was silence. Utter silence. Only the sounds of their heavily falling breaths were heard.
"Apologies." Asad said and retracted his hand. "Now, if you are ready to hear what I'm about to say, will you let me tell you what's really going on here?"
Zoya scoffed at him. "What if I'm not?"
Asad smiled. "Then we'll just have to stay here till you are." He saw her look at him in an outrage and purse her lips, a small smile graced his face.
"Fine." Zoya muttered through gritted teeth and folded her arms, motioning him to continue.
"Look, I, I need your help with something." He sighed and saw Zoya eyeballing him intensely. She opened her mouth to argue but found Asad's hand covering it again, as gentle as before. "Please, just don't say anything for a while and hear me out." He pleaded as he brought his hand down, Zoya glared at him and pursed her lips. "I am at fault for everything that's happened between us. It was all on me. This...might come as a severe shock to you but I'm begging you to please just hear me out." Zoya looked at him with curiosity, "All this time... I've been working for Gaffur."
He instantly noticed the colour drain out of her face. She stared at him, mortified. Her hand reached for the door handle and frantically started tugging at it, but it was no use. The lock could only be accessed through the driver or a remote that only Asad had. "Zoya, I'm not working for him anymore. Please-", he reached for her trembling shoulder but she shrugged him off violently.
Tears were now trailing down her white cheeks, "DON'T TOUCH ME! LET ME GO YOU DISGUSTING-"
"ZOYA JUST LISTEN! HE WAS GOING TO KILL MY FAMILY!" Asad cried. His own eyes welling up with tears. "He was...going to kill... everyone." He croaked. Zoya looked at him in concern. How much of what he was saying was actually true? "I need your help, Zoya. I need to get out of this."
"But...why me?" Was all she could manage to whimper.
"You're the only person I truly trust." His eyes met hers. "Please. Just this once."
"What do you need my help for?" Her eyes skittered to the floor. There were creases of doubt on her forehead.
"I need help finding someone. My sister."
* * *
Zoya sighed and held her head in her hands. Asad had just finished telling her the entirety of the truth. They were sitting in his office, after a lot of insistence from his side. This was absurd! Crazy! Messed up! What on earth could she do?!
I want to help him. He looks so miserable and sad, I don't like seeing him like this.
He was playing with his fingers. Nervously staring down at his dark grey desk. A lock of his dark hair was dangling aimlessly over his face, Zoya had the sudden urge to stroke it back into place.
But after all he did to me?
I can still help him, as a colleague or a friend.
"This is really overwhelming." She said tiredly. Asad glanced at her with hopeful eyes. "I'll help you."
Asad's face lit up. "Uh- wow- um, thank you!" He spluttered, not knowing how to react. He felt a bubble of positivity swell inside him. He had a chance!
"But..."
Pop.
There goes the bubble. He signed internally.
"I have a condition." Zoya said firmly. He caught her fiery gaze from beneath a fringe of hair.
"W-what are they?"
"We shall only work on this as colleagues, friends or preferably acquaintances." Demanded Zoya. Asad stared at her. There was chaos in his mind, but strained patience on his face.
"I...I agree." He whispered and extended a hand for her to shake. "When do we start?"
Zoya knitted her brows and began calculating her free time. As much as she wanted to help him, she wanted to spend as less time with him as possible. "Saturday evening?"
Asad smiled. "I was hoping you'd say that." He chuckled softly and leant back against his chair, facing Zoya. He noticed her face scrunch up in irritation.
"Why?" She managed to spit out. Something's on his mind. Shit!
"Well actually, there was a Gala I was invited to and I really didn't want to go. Now that you've decided to meet then, I can avoid the Gala." Asad beamed at her innocently. She was taken aback.
"O-oh. Okay then. Can I go now? I have a lot of work." Zoya said and got out of her seat, head towards the cabin door. Asad nodded. "I'll message you the meeting spot."
"Goodbye."
* * *
After a lot of petty arguments about where to meet, they had finally decided to meet at the small, shabby café that Zoya had once taken Asad to. He was waiting for her outside, checking he watch occasionally.
We were supposed to meet at 6:30. Where is she?
His ears heard the soft pattering of her flats and his head shot up to look at her. She was wearing a pair of distressed jeans and a simple t-shirt with a jacket over it. And here he was, in a crisp suit, a blinding white shirt and formal trousers.
"Hi!" She said blankly. Asad's eyes roved dangerously over her form.
"You're late." He said curtly. She checked her phone for the time and looked at him ridiculously.
"It's only 6:34!" Complained Zoya. "Literally just four minutes. Psycho." She mumbled the last word but he heard it and glared at her playfully. "Anyway let's go inside."
"ZOEEEE!!!" Screamed a tiny voice as soon as they stepped inside the warm café. "I mishhed you lasht time!"
Zoya laughed and picked up the little kid that was hanging to her legs. "Hiya munchkin! Haven't been giving Gramps any trouble have we?"
"Nope. I'm a good boy now!" Said the adorable child with gleaming eyes.
"Zoe! It's nice to see you again kid! Kevin wasn't happy that you came by when he was at school last time. It was even worse when I told him you helped around." Joey chuckled and led them to a seat in the corner. Kevin sat on Zoya's lap.
"Thanks Joey. I'll have the usual." Zoya smiled brightly at him.
"And what about this handsome gentleman?" Joey said warmly. Asad smiled a bit.
"I'll have a black coffee. No sugar please." He said and brought his gaze back to Zoya, who had just finished rolling her eyes. "What're you rolling your eyes for?"
"I still don't understand how you can drink that atrocity." She mumbled and continued playing with Kevin. Not noticing Asad's gaze which was stuck on her. She's so good with kids. And when she smiles at them...or anyone...I can't even explain how I feel. Why is my heart beating so fast? What the...
"So, about the thing we're actually meeting for." Asad broke his own train of thought and rested his elbows on the wooden table. "I have a few leads. Gaffur has hinted where she might be over his constant calls many times. I have recorded every one."
Hmm. Impressive. Ugh what're you thinking Zoya Farooqui! She nodded thoughtfully at him. "So, what are the leads?"
"Chances are, she is in USA itself. So if we are right, we won't have to go out of the country to meet her. Many a times, Gaffur let slip that she was 'on the opposite side' and that means..."
"... California!" Zoya said looking him in the eyes. "What about anything that hints how she looks? DNA? Credit card swipes? Phone calls?" She said excitedly, completely ignoring her coffee which had arrived 2 minutes ago.
How haven't I thought of this. Damn how smart is she? Argh, focus Asad! He sipped on his scalding hot coffee, staring into the tables depths. "No. Nothing of the sort." He said sheepishly. Zoya looked at his flustered face and snickered. "What?" Asad snapped.
"You haven't tried any of the things I just mentioned right?" She teased.
Asad sighed in annoyance and shook his head at her. "Although, there was one thing-"
Ring ring ring!
"Damn it." Asad grunted and accepted the call. "What is it Prasad? I'm in the middle of something right now."
"Sorry sir, but I thought you ought to know. Sir, the Gala that you were supposed to attend has some important people. It might really be useful for you to attend! Your father insists it sir!" Prasad gulped.
"Please tell him I don't mean to attend it whatsoever. I have more important things on my hands." Asad ordered.
"But sir-"
"Prasad, I'm hanging up."
"Sir your father said Mr Gaffur Siddique is going to be there!" Prasad sputtered. Asad paused.
"Hold on."
Hey guys! Soooo sorry for the extremely, horridly late update! There are two parts to this chapter, so this one is a bit short. I will be writing the next one ASAP!
Love y'all, and thank you for being so patient :)

Hi there,
Got your PM this morning and I realized I have missed out on this story totally! Went back and read a couple of chapters and suddenly felt that so much has transpired between Asad and Zoya. From Asad saving her, to Zoya letting her guards down and allowing her feelings to take over, living an honest moment of intimacy, only to be shattered by his betrayal, to finally seeing reasoning behind Asad's deeds, it's been a very interesting plot. It's very gripping and I'm so intrigued to know what will happen next.
It's relieving to see Asad and Zoya sort out their misunderstandings to some extent and looks like this mission they are going to embark upon will bring them closer like never before. It's going to be endearing to see them feel protected with each other again as they need that the most at the moment.
The writing is as always very crisp and spot on. I think you outdid yourself with the graphic content. I know it's tough to write it but I really liked how you captured the emotion behind the physical intimacy well. Overall, I really like how you structure your chapters. It's a good balance of character development, story progression, mystery and emotion. And that I feel is brilliant ! Keep it up!
Post the next part sooonest! Loving how this story is moving!
Oh he finally could tell her the truth, all his efforts paid off.. Hope this rescue mission brings them closer again , want both of them to be Happy now!
