Shahid Kapoor in Jersey was phenomenal. The movie was boring, but he was extraordinary in it.

Rajkumar Rao, of course, is a delight to watch onscreen. He nails each and every role he is in. He was so so good in Badhai Do also.

Vicky Kaushal comes a close third.

And then Ranbir, Ranveer, and Ayushmann bring up the top 6.

Agree or have I forgotten someone?

I wish they had heroines that matched their caliber, deepika is good but no one who has her oomph to replace her. alia started of great but somewhere she didn't reach the oomph factor, lost too much weight and became too big at a young age, didn't mature like wine.

I've always said proudly that Rajkummar Rao is a half-trick pony and he is overrated as hell on this forum and I was very happy to eat my words earlier this year when I watched Badhaai Do about 5 times, and cried about 5 times at the climax because Rajkummar's performance blew my balls off. The million nuances he crammed into that most authentic of performances is enough to make any body's night-gown wet with floods of tears... not to mention the amazing Sheeba Chaddha. They both deserve all the awards (next? year) 🤗

MALE ACTRESSES:

Shahid Kapoor was phenomenal in Haider, Udta Punjab, Kabir Singh. But it's still so hard to rank these boys. How can I not have the most versatile Ranveer Singh at #1..?? But how can I put Ranbir Kapoor at #2 when he's given a Tamasha and Sanju?? But Ayushmann Khurrana in Andhadhun was out of this world, he can't be a measly #3?!!! Vicky Kaushal deserves 10 Oscars for Sardar Udham, what a spectacle that entire film was...

It's harder to rank the

FEMALE ACTRESSES

Phenomenal performances post-2020, chronologically:

+ Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi)

+ Deepika Padukone (Gehraiyaan)

+ Shefali Shah (Jalsa)

+ Vidya Balan (Jalsa)

+ Bhumi Pednekar (Badhaai Do)

+ Taapsee Pannu (Rashmi Rocket)

+ Parineeti Chopra (Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar)

+ Kriti Sanon (Mimi)

+ Sanya Malhotra (Pagglait)

+ Taapsee Pannu (Thappad)

+ Bhumi Pednekar (Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare)

OTHER absolutely fantastic performances:

+ Fatima Sana Sheikh (Thar)

+ Sara Ali Khan (Atrangi Re)

+ Taapsee Pannu (Haseen Dillruba)

+ Vaani Kapoor (Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui)

+ Konkona Sen Sharma (Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare)

+ Deepika Padukone (Chhapaak)

+ Tripti Dimri (Bulbbul)

RKR>RS>Shahid

While Shahid is brilliant in intense roles, his light-hearted performances always make me cringe. I guess he has realised that it doesn't work for him so has stopped taking up those roles.

RKR is brilliant in all kinds of roles. Villain in that Kangu movie, comedy in BKB/Stree(the scene in the climax of him mimicking SRK was just 👏) or emotional in Badhai Do.

RS does both well, intense as well as light hearted roles. While he may not match up to RKR, he's still better than Shahid when it comes to romance and the guy-next-door acts.
