Spicing the box-office abroad 'Garam Masala'

On the occasion of the festive spirit of Diwali and Eid, Bollywood saw the release of three big films at a row. Talented Priyadarshan's 'Garam Masala' and 'Kyon Ki' releasing simultaneously and comic cracker David Dhawan's multi-starrer 'Shaadi No. 1'. But among the three, only one has emerged as the black horse, running at a full pace and storming the box office abroad. Priyadarshan's 'Garam Masala' is the sizzler, spicing the box-office abroad.

Other films like 'Kyon Ki' and 'Shaadi No. 1' hasn't been able to live up to the expectations. The response that both the films received was pretty lukewarm in comparison to 'Garam Masala'. In UK 'Garam Masala' stands at 8th position, being screened at 37 theatres and earning 292,033. This is the first Bollywood film in UK this year, which has fetched such a big opening.

'Kyon Ki' ranks in the 11th position and is being screened at 55 theatres and has earned 171,566. Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor are the strength of the film and is the main reason why it is screened in more theatres.

'Shaadi No. 1' couldn't take a kick-start and ranks at 14th position in the UK. The film is being screened at 33 theatres and has earned of 95,086 over the weekend.

Even in Australia, 'Garam Masala' is moving ahead of 'Shaadi No. 1'. Similar result can be noticed in India too. Between Priyadarshan and David Dhawan, who will emerge as the better comedy film maker, wait and watch!
