Ok... maybe in the minority here - but I actually liked the Meethi and Imlie conversation as the basis for her return and her breaking ties with her mother. NOT because I don't like Meethi but because I thought it was an appropriate reaction from Imlie.
Imlie really truly has worshipped her mother and for Meethi to say what she said would have been devastating for her. Imlie's pechan has been based on her being Sita Maiya's ashirwad to her mom, and that was shaken today. Imlie does not love Aryan and she doesn't understand him either, tbh she doesn't owe him that understanding either. They were partners and one-sided friends but she's not in love with him yet and therefore it is completely right for her to fight tooth and nail to not be married to him, esp after her first mess of a marriage.
Meethi stepping in and forcing her by invoking her debt after Aryan himself has set her free is wrong if even her neeyat and reasoning are right. The onus should not be on Imlie every time to understand the hidden meaning and intentions of Aryan and now Meethi, esp when it comes to shaadi. They should speak up and tell her what they truly mean and if she disagrees then too bad. Just because someone is doing something you don't agree with, even if it will bring them harm, you cannot force your will upon them, they should always have a choice - this has been shown as being central to Aryan and Imlie's relationship multiple times.
The story now is set up so that marriage has happened (yay!!! SOOOO excited for post-wedding scenes and slow burn into love) without Aryan forcing Imlie.
I'm guessing post-wedding storylines will be around Aryan and Imlie's clash and angst because she still doesn't want to be married to him, Imlie's fight against BM and BD if they stay, and then when the reason for Imlie's coming back is revealed (this might be kept hidden for a while as the two come closer and then be a bomb that is dropped when the two finally start to be happy together) there will be more angst and Aryan guilt/anger.
