Please open DID Lil Masters forum. I've already requested for the same on the Forum suggestion topic but haven't received any update yet. The show starts day after tomo so only a day left.

I noticed that India Forums allows fan fictions to use the Entity tags for actors. So, from the India Forums page for any actor, you can find a list of fan fictions associated with that actor's name.

This creates confusion that the fan fiction is about the actor (although India Forums has a policy that Real Person Fiction is not permitted), rather than a specific character played by that actor.

It would be better if the links between actors' pages and fan fictions were indirect: from actor to project (show, movie etc.) to fan fictions about that project. Fan fictions already can use the Entity tag for a project, and can create a tag for the character, couple etc.

Actors sign contracts with whoever owns a project to play characters as written by the creative team, not by the general public. Actors might refuse to play a character that glamourizes smoking or alcohol abuse, or they might be uncomfortable playing an HIV positive character or an LGBTQ+ character, or they might object to violent or sexual scenes. Since actors have no control over what is written about their characters in fan fictions on India Forums, and they may not approve of how those characters and canon are tweaked, it seems disrespectful to link the actor's name to the fan fiction directly.

In theory, I could even write a fan fiction about an original character, pick an actor that I imagine in the role, and associate my story and character with an actor who never consented.

Related to this, I would like to ask, what is India Forums' policy about using actors' likenesses in fan fiction covers? It seems to me that images of the actor in character for the project on which the fan fiction is based are "fair use," images of the actor in real life that s/he allowed that project to use for that character are acceptable but not ideal, and any other images of the actor shouldn't be used. Examples: don't use behind-the-scenes pictures; don't use an actor's likeness for an original character; don't use an actor's real life wedding pictures; don't use images of the actor from unrelated projects such as music videos or modelling.

I hope my suggestions will encourage actors to direct their fans to their pages on India Forums to enjoy interviews and other content without any discomfort that fan fictions might create.

This is odd. In order to resolve this I would need some more information from your end.

1. Which Browser / OS you are using?

2. Is this issue happening just with our site?

3. BTW I have seen browsers which has the option of Low Data mode which basically disables the images so can you check your browser if you have enabled such thing?

Regards,

Is it possible to have a means for hiding spoilers under a cut like they have on Reddit and other places? If that’s too difficult perhaps even another option added similar to the ‘Mature post’ option where you can hide the entire post and people can click on it only if they’re willing to be spoiled. It would have the ‘Spoiler’ tag instead.

I find this is needed because sometimes, especially in chat clubs for shows that people haven’t watched all seasons of, members tend to reveal something during discussions and other members end up getting spoiled, and it’s really difficult to glance away from a general post that’s just sitting there even if you do give a spoiler alert.

Just a suggestion. Thank you!
