I kind of want to post a topic about this but if Aryan forces Imlie (regardless of reason), then at least to me it's clear that he doesn't love her. Because love can't put such a burden on a person, especially if the person has gone through as much hardships as Imlie. His character gets completely butchered with this move. I'm really trying to think of a scenario where a forced marriage makes sense for the characters and the only thing I accept is if Imlie compels Aryan.

I don't know y'all. I feel like a few people are totally on board with a forced wedding but that just leaves such a bad taste in my mouth. Anyways its Gul and Bhau's show but I'll be so sad when the characters I've grown to love become toxic by making such moves

Why should we be okay with Imlie compelling Aryan .. ?? How does her forcing this burden on him , makes it any better ..He might not hv gone through the trauma of a past forced marriage, but that doesn’t make it alright if she takes his agency away…and that too for the sole purpose of saving her ex.. how terribly heart breaking/ burdening would that be for him to accept.. thinking the girl I might hv just started to feel something for , is asking me to marry her , not out of love for me .. but out of the residual feelings she has for ex, for whom she is willing to sacrifice her whole life..

I think our bias might stem from the fact that we hv all put Aryan on such a pedestal that we can not see him do any wrong.. We forgot he s human too .. and a grey character to begin with from the start.. if we hv accepted AKT and for that matter Imlie as well , as flawed characters.. why cant we accept Aryan as one too .. Just like Imlie’s goodness still shines through her very many flaws.. so can Aryan’s.. 🤷‍♀️

During their argument , can Arpi again be a witness , so she can later put sense into Imlie's brain n make her realize dat what she thinks of Aru is nt d actual thing.

Hope Imlie recalls that Aru has told her twice that he wil nt use her or anyone for revenge n also remember her words she said AKT abt wat Aru has done for her ...... n also wen has he used her n taken revenge against AKT

B/w wat n how does AKT knows wat Aru has told Imlie against him 😡😡

💯 agree. The thing is, I'm currently just hoping that the promo was designed to get us all talking and hyped up (like we are right now) and won't play out the way it did. Because imma wanna throw chappals at them both if it does. First, at Imlie, because enough of making sacrifices for that undeserving spineless man. But probably more at Aryan, because his entire character has been built on the idea of valuing consent and agency. Even if it's well intentioned, it's gonna be so upsetting to see him willing to make her go through the trauma of an unwanted wedding a second time, considering he's probably the only person in the world who has an insight on exactly how traumatizing it was for her. And I think I'll be more annoyed at Aryan than Imlie because at least Imlie's idiotic self sacrificial decisions are inflicting pain on her, not on others the way this would.

On one end, Aryan has earned more than enough goodwill with me so I'll probably be able to move past it, won't be the first forced wedding we accept, it's such a common trope. But I think because of how much goodwill he's earned, it's all the more difficult to see him be this way, if he turns out to be.

But call it idiotic optimism, I still have some faith it won't play out the way we're fearing 🤷🏻‍♀️

on the same page as y'all i mean radical and i have been trying our hardest to manifest anything but the Forced Marriage TM, it's also just a cursed trope to begin with and needs to be phased out entirely, i'm so over it. (or give us like ten shows where the girl says she's married to defend the man instead of surprise sindoor we're married now even though that's not how it works in real life help)

it would also, be really frickin gutsy of them to do that to aryan's character when they are all on twitter/instagram and aware of how much the fandom loves aryan BECAUSE he's about choices and agency?!

I think it has to do with their general hierarchies and roles. Aryan has the money and the status, no one can truly force him to do anything.

Imlie doesn't have that kind of backing. She was already forced once before to get married at gunpoint. It seems like lazy writting for her to be forced twice which is why I said I would be okay with the reversal with just the understanding that no one can actually force Aryan to do anything. Unless Narmada Aunty gets involved

And again, in an ideal situation no one is getting forced or having their agency taken away from them.

I do think they have to be a LOT more careful with Aryan than they do with a standard ML because anyway getting audiences to successfully switch loyalties mid show is a challenge, which is why his character has been so carefully curated. Which is why it'll be wild if they throw that out the window. But let's seeeee we can speculate 1000 things but they'll do the 1001st which will be lamer than all our ideas so 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

Of course! I 100% agree. I should have been clear, that in my ideal situation NO ONE is forced.

But I was just listing options that would be slightly more palatable then what the promo currently shows.

okay but now i want the 1001 nights au where instead of murdering women Aryan just sends them to live in another country which is mean enough and Imlie is like dude calm yourself (look this doesn't map on at all but my brain is fried it's fine)

my dream plotline that won't happen is Aryan secretly submits Imlie to an exchange program for journalism to the United States, and we do a leap where she's just spending two years studying and FAR AWAY from AKT and the Tripathis.
