It’s more of a creative restriction that isn’t allowing the proper flow of emotions from her. They are restricting her to be a 40+ woman with 3 grown up children can’t act like a teenager giddy in love.

Whereas he has never felt the reciprocation of his love and along with the unending wait added, even smallest of things drive him towards ecstasy hence his behavior.
