Since its Viv's profession, ofc he thinks of money and choses the better scripts from the pile. What bothers me is that while he's doing what he has to do, even one underperformer affects an actor these days. And TV used to be the reliable medium...unfortunately not anymore.
OTT's gradually taking over the TV audience for the reasons I told you. Idk about profitable but Mirzapur Season 2 had more buzz than Vivian's comeback show (since he comes in the A List category of actors).
At the moment, TV actors are bigger than OTT actors so they can even charge good money. And the seasons format ensures that they get work continuously, yet they are not restricted. Its a matter of time that Netflix and Prime start becoming the norm in rural areas too...once internet becomes easily accessible.
Otherwise, Indian TV should follow Pakistan's way of doing it...once/twice a week of telecast with 20-30 episodes...so the show is on for months but the actors are done filming so they can sign onto new projects. YouTube availability gets them views from other countries too. At least that way most shows don't get butchered. But I gotta add here that OTT hasn't picked up in Pakistan and Lollywood is going thru a lull phase currently; and since the country is conservative, TV is the best form of entertainment because its not racy and everyone can watch it.
