Monday's episode? 😲

Ultimately it wasn't in his hands if they flipped the script on him after the promised initial episodes...I feel bad too people will still flame him for choosing the script if it doesn't go back to the college premise like he's the one writing it 😆

I am holding onto the tiniest sliver of hope that the makers saw the feedback on twitter and here and will make amends to the show before it's too late, but let's see, right now its a desperate push for numbers

No no, I meant the show I watch on Voot, not TV 😆

After him going thru so much, the show he signs on ends up doing a complete U-turn

I swear they should shift it to OTT but not shift from the focus. They end up not attracting new audience and losing the old one in the process.

ah okay my bad 🤣

I'm just glad he still chose this over some of the other new shows or continuations, and I liked the episodes a lot up until Rakesh caught them during the Valentine's episode (roka drama was ignorable, but the rest stayed true to the initial concept in my opinion). That one moment though has brought us here 😆

when it comes down to it VD needs to earn since this is his profession, and ITV lacks stellar scripts anyways. I still believe he picked the better of what's out there, and want to keep faith in his choice. Fingers crossed that they bring it back to the college, without a marriage. Unlikely, but not impossible. 😆 maybe I'm just too optimistic but I'm okay with that

does OTT bring more profit? I'm not too familiar with how it works in India 😆

Since its Viv's profession, ofc he thinks of money and choses the better scripts from the pile. What bothers me is that while he's doing what he has to do, even one underperformer affects an actor these days. And TV used to be the reliable medium...unfortunately not anymore.

OTT's gradually taking over the TV audience for the reasons I told you. Idk about profitable but Mirzapur Season 2 had more buzz than Vivian's comeback show (since he comes in the A List category of actors).

At the moment, TV actors are bigger than OTT actors so they can even charge good money. And the seasons format ensures that they get work continuously, yet they are not restricted. Its a matter of time that Netflix and Prime start becoming the norm in rural areas too...once internet becomes easily accessible.

Otherwise, Indian TV should follow Pakistan's way of doing it...once/twice a week of telecast with 20-30 episodes...so the show is on for months but the actors are done filming so they can sign onto new projects. YouTube availability gets them views from other countries too. At least that way most shows don't get butchered. But I gotta add here that OTT hasn't picked up in Pakistan and Lollywood is going thru a lull phase currently; and since the country is conservative, TV is the best form of entertainment because its not racy and everyone can watch it.

fair point 😆 that is bothersome and quite stupid tbh he's not the one writing the script, go after the plethora of sh*tty writers for that 😆 i wonder if he will ever make the jump to OTT in the future...I would love to see him there 😳

there is a show on Sony currently that I believe pre-filmed a majority of their episodes and is finite for 65 episodes total, but even that show's story went fast downhill with EMA things 😆 so I think at the same time as making shows weekly and finite, the industry needs to hire better writers 😆 without that even the finite shows will be just as bad.

I would love for VD to sign shows in these formats since that would mean we can see him a lot in different roles 😳 but the dream may remain a dream for a while 😆😭 kdramas have the same format too though usually shorter with 16 episodes either once or twice a week

I always felt that ITV has many good actors and who are very good looking as well...but they aren't taken seriously because of the scripts.

A part of me always hopes Ekta makes PKYEK 2 in seasons format so we can have it back ❤️

Since you mentioned EMA, are you talking about Kaamnaa on Sony? That's a rip off of Pakistani show Meray Paas Tum Ho 😆 I have never seen a more cringey remake in my freakin life 🤣 My apologies to the people across the border for such an abysmal show 🤣 But I doubt its finite 😆

Finite shows really need to make a comeback. Its the only way we'll get good content, actors will get good work and the industry will sustain. Otherwise in a couple of years...its evident what'll happen.

Yeah that's true 😆 it sucks for them since they are the faces of these projects 😭

I on the other hand don't want her to 🤣 because I don't trust the writers she hires and it will for sure get butchered more🤣 I will hate it more than I hate post leap and that's a feat on its own

Not Kaamnaa, but Dhadkan 😆 the medical based show 😆 that is a finite show and they pre-filmed most of it to my knowledge but it still went down the drain with the writing..I think the forum discussion can paint a better light on it than I can 😆 I stalk it sometimes

the channels need to stop chasing after profit for that to happen 😭 but greed is a hard thing to leave behind

I think the OG PKYEK team is still working with Balaji 😆 If not, then I volunteer my supervision 🤣

Sony scores majorly on non-fiction 😆 The numbers they get and the consistency they have on the weekends can't even be competed by Star, Zee or Colors. 😆

Channels ko akkal nahi hai na, they don't realise that making finite shows would end up giving them much bigger profits, because the quality would appeal to people outside the Hindi speaking diaspora. You give me one show from India that any non-Hindi understanding person would like to watch with subtitles. Hai hi nahi.

Korean, Turkish, Polish, Spanish shows score here only. We don't know the language but subtitles help and its well made content.

I don't want them to work on it 🤣 they weren't good writers to me either 🤣 and Ekta is off making her desh bhakti Naagin my trust in them is in the negatives since 2011

yeah their fiction starts off okay then takes a deep dive, finite or not. Again this to me points to the need for better writers 😆 where are they? or are we still in a situation where learning writing for an education is still frowned upon over something like engineering or medicine? 😆

they don't have any brains. it doesn't surprise me since they don't care about online TRPs at all 😆 outside the non-Hindi speaking demographic means online viewing 😆 and yeah there is no indian tv show I would ever show to anyone in my friend circle 😆 I am more likely to recommend a kdrama to them nowadays

They did good for the first half 😆 Watching it now, it feels exactly like it should have- a typical teenage story. All those fake dating, everyone cheers and teasing the couples, making the other jealous fit their demographic perfectly 😆

Mass media's quite a popular option for career. Ab sirf doctors and engineers ko hi izzat nahi milti, sabko milti hai. Channel ki hi galti hai, when their creative team and heads are all seniors who are still living in the 2000s toh aur kya ho sakta hai 😆

My mother's also switched to regional and Pakistani shows now. Now she's looking to cancel the cable subscription 😆

ITV heads seriously lack vision, which is what drove away our age group in the first place. If they don't do anything within the next few years then its bad.
