Ok copying is when you duplicate the show without permission. However in the case of game shows the US and UK often develop game shows and design them to be produced in many countries and many languages. This is called
syndication....ie. when the show is duplicated in any other country the credit is given to its original producers.

IN KBC and KAPPSTH syndication laws apply. The developers of the original shows are getting credit (check out the end credits) as well as money everytime the show is on in another country.

You are absolutely right!

I totally agree with you. It leaves such a bad taste. Are we not smarter.....yet we copy programs with every single nuances- The cheats are identical only in Hindi. Even Shahrukh Khan says peek for takJhak. A part of me wants the American channels to sue these channels for copyright infringements. A single win will stop all this lifting ideas and fuel our own creativity.

1st and foremost please don't open a thread like this and mislead people .....India hasn't "copied" this show from USA ...If that's the case then USA "copied" American Idol from European Idol ,"are u smarter than a 5th grader" from BBC , ugly betty from jassi jaisi koi nahi .....😉

Bottomline, these r not copy ....STAR, Fox channel and many others all over the world r owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch so any show the owner company ( here the news corporation) see fits in a particular country incorporates it there and gets a % of profit from the channel producers !!!!!!!....That's why the format is same but the content suits the country's sensibilities !!!!!!

Same u see in the case of Idol which is incorporated by Sony entertainment TV worldwide ......

By the way Paanchvi paas is way more entertaining and the questions r way more tougher than that of USA ( I am not surprised though) 😃....

there r no multiple choice qs in Paanchvi paas ....

just my 2 cents😛😛😉

Then u have to sue Rubet Murdoch , the billionaire who owns these channels after all it is his company news corporation who came up with the idea and recently incorporated in India too.....😃,,,,,

its not copying...the american producers put their money into this..

like KAPPSTZ it credits Mark Burnett and they also credit their shows that they take the format from...read the credits next time...

plus shows like Indian Idol have their producers from USA come to India to work with Indian channels and producers to make their show in India as well...since India is a progressing country and plus with the Telly industry becoming greater every day I guess UK/USA people want to put their money on their popular shows so they can get a profit

Agree completely with Koeli! You cant sue every single person who has copied something from someone else under the rules of copyright! Not when it's not actually copying! 😕 They've bought the copyright and have the right to re-produce the show in their own country! There would be no basis to the suing case!? 😕

The cheats have to therefore be the same, since they have bought the copyright! Otherwise it would defeat the point...

I THINK THE MOST IMPORTANT THING HERE IS WHETHER THE SHOW ENTERTAINS THE VIEWERS OR NOT AND PANCHVI PAAS IS DEFINITELY VERY ENTERTAINING SO IT DOESNT MATTER TO AN AVERAGE VIEWER WHETHER IT IS COPIED OR ORIGINAL
