Actually, BOTH Jassi Jessi Koi Nahin and Ugly Betty are based on a Colombian telenovela called "Yo Soy Betty La Fea". It ran from 1999 to 2001. The Spanish language drama also inspired dramas in other parts of the world.

USA is the best......so everyone wants the best... 😉 😳

Indians are not the only ones who copy things from others! There are loads of things the Americans/British/French, etc. have copied from India!

As for the TV show thing, as sangeeta said, the shows are copyrighted and the copyright is bought so that the show can be made in another country. India is not the only country that has 'copied' a show.

How about you think of it as...😳 it was a reallyyy good idea that's why others chose to carry it forward too. If it wasn't any good no one would have taken notice of it right?

It's not as if we did not enjoy any of these 'adapted' shows. Just because they're not 100% original doesn't mean it's not good. 😳

...And anyway it's not as if anyone is claiming the idea to be solely theirs. Credit has been given where credit it due. It clearly states on the official paanchvi pass site that the game has been derived from the american show. 😊

so dear... every n each land have own reality shows... so u cant really say taht its copied... just made.... coz we have many many artist so.....

i think this is the offcial indian version of are u smarter then a 5th grader, a copy is where is unaotherorized copy like they do in hindi movies. american idol was based on pop idol the UK show. KBC was also the offcial indian verison of who wants to be a millionaire i doubt itd a copy. same with indian idol. so copyright laws arent being violated.

Ok copying is when you duplicate the show without permission. However in the case of game shows the US and UK often develop game shows and design them to be produced in many countries and many languages. This is called
syndication....ie. when the show is duplicated in any other country the credit is given to its original producers.

IN KBC and KAPPSTH syndication laws apply. The developers of the original shows are getting credit (check out the end credits) as well as money everytime the show is on in another country.
