I recently started watching Dhadkan Zindagi Kii - it's pretty good and the medical stuff seems well researched. The main surgeon is a woman and there was an episode on why she and her ex-fiance (also a surgeon) broke up. He was ok with her working as a doctor but wanted her to pick a less demanding specialty than surgery because that would prevent her from balancing the needs of their eventual family with her career.
The ex-fiance thought he was being so progressive and magnanimous by allowing her to work as a doctor at all, he couldn't understand why she was being 'unreasonable' by insisting on taking surgery as a specialty. I thought the episode was really well done because it took a realistic issue and used it to push the plot forward - as opposed to the crap we're seeing in YRKKH.
(the female doctor is apparently played by HC's costar in Kis Desh which I have not seen)
