I’m not denying there’s forced hijab on girls. The point is here in this particular case its not an oppression its their choice and they want the freedom to wear it.

I also agree that if a school/organisation doesn’t want to entertain religious ornaments/wear they should make it very clear from the start and people should choose school based on that or follow the rules of the school if its already mentioned at the time of admission.

Another interesting thing is that Islam never stopped women from being educated. There are hadiths which tells that seeking education is compulsory for every muslim. Not just men but muslim. It’s different that things changed over time. That’s another discussion all together so I’ll let it go.

My point is raise your voice against forced covering but do not take away the right to wear hijab for those who want to wear it. Oppression is forcing women whether its to make them wear hijab or force them to not wear it.

Let me talk about the same girls here.

None of these girls were wearing Hijab before.

Suddenly one day they start coming to college wearing Hijab , very well knowing the written uniform rules.

Don't you think this is odd. These girls are now asked to wear this, and start abusing the college and government?

Why create so much drama , that too in middle of the school year. Everything is clearly planned to spread unrest

It's another matter, if they were always wearing and that too were wearing out of own choice and not due to familial or religious pressure.

Wearing clothes are never regressive. Man in the early times was almost naked, as his intellect evolved, he started wearing clothes, not the other way around. It is the people who are almost naked are regressing to the older times.

Exactly. And the islamophobia shows because when someone brought in the comparison with a Sikh turban, the debate flip flops to say it's not the same thing. It's absolutely the same thing.

1) turbans are encouraged for Sikh

men, while hijab is encouraged for Muslim women.

2) In both religons, men and women choose whether they want to follow their religion how they best feel they should. Not all Sikh men wear a turban, not all Muslim girls wear a hijab.

3) if you're argument is girls are forced by family to wear hijab, what about the many that wear it by choice? Just coz someone on this forum feels a certain way about their experience with the hijab, why force your life experience onto others? That's like saying "my family forced me to wear shalwar kameez every time I have to see my relatives and I can't wear jeans and a t shirt". So now is shalwaar kameez regressive? Or is this just a disagreement within appropriate dressing within a family unit?

4) my family never forced me to wear hijab. My sister in law wore a hijab by HER choice in high school, and removed it by HER choice in college. See the point her? HER CHOICE. Her choice how she practices the religion.

Kerala govt rejected Hijab in schools.

Kerala has more Muslim population. And that’s ok.

Just like there are a lot of Sikh men who get their hair cut and don't wear turbans....there are certain mandates in all religions....some follow it out of their choice ...some don't....what is so difficult to understand here??😕

Such an easy concept yet so hard to understand.

As you said such a simple concept and so difficult to understand and it's interesting that people can turn a blind eye to all the bullshit that goes on in the name of their own religion and criticise the smallest issues of other religions.

India seems to have solved the roti, kapda and makan problem that the rest of the world is grappling with post covid given how most of the focus seems to be on religions and religious divide.

Yes! Apparently a difficult concept to follow. And the ones speaking on behalf of Muslims, frankly, have no idea what they're talking about.

Hijab is fine, demanding a burqa if true is pathetic. These controversies aren't new. They've happened all over the world. With Muslim, Sikh & Jew students.

Usually they'll have a uniform code like no head coverings or necklaces etc but then there's a lawsuit & they have to change the law to accept religious head coverings.

The question is where does it stop. Can a Rajput wear his turban? What about a Parsi? What about a christian headscarf? Its a question with no right answer. If you allow a Hijab do you have to allow everything else as well or do you pick & choose?

Ever heard a sardar kid being asked to remove his head covering anywhere in India...like anywhere...give me one example??
