Creepy Shah

My focus today is the words and actions of creepy Mr Vanraj Shah. Today Ladla donned the hat of relationship counselor. He listed how his failed relationships made him the best candidate to advise Samar. Not only was he asking him to break his ties but was also placing before him the idea that if a marriage failed to divorce and get into another marriage.

He argued that the marriages had become a pinjara for him too and he was stifled and endured the trauma for the sake of others.

He tried to assert his right as Samars father though we have never seen him perform the duties of a father. He wants to enjoy the rights of a parent without ever showing care for the lad on the mere basis that he contributed chromosomes.

The way in which he spoke to Mukku oozing kindness understanding and empathy established his credentials of a creepy manipulator.

For once Leela didn't side with her Ladla and Paritosh didn't tow his fathers line but went on to speak with Nandini.

If at all writers would want to redeem him some day, they should start with fully paralyzing him.

2) Where did Vanraj go wrong? What is the root of all of this ? He knew he wasnt into Anupamaa when the rishta was happening, why didnt he speak up then? Cuz he didnt want to go against his parents? is it really worth to be miserable ? his grandmother mustve died a long time ago, Baa didnt like her either. So why did he marry her ? To make Bapuji happy? I dont get it. and now, this chase for $$$, who is that to impress? His kids? His parents? Anuj ?

very good ques....I feel a man can change if he really feels remorse for what ever he has done and he wants peace. The change comes in when he feels he has lost everything that is/was imp to him which he never even realized and he wants those things/people back.

I would also love to see what shaped him to be like this. Some back story into the Shah ancestors or his thoughts all along from teenage to adulthood. But I guess fandom will not be interested to see all this as his character is already established as a dense abuser!!

I was thinking about the "soch" and "sanskar" mentioned today. Mr Shah's soch is abominable as we know, but I feel his sanskar is also to blame.

During Baa's meltdown, it was pretty clear that, for her, Bapuji didn't measure up to her material expectations from life and that it was her son who came to fill that void with time. It may not have been a conscious thing, but she would have pandered to his whims and pumped his ego even at an early age because he would have been smart and capable and she would have seen that as a reflection of herself in him. Things that were lacking in Bapuji. Mr Shah has grown up believing in his own perfection. He truly believes he is a "sher".

It's easy to say that Mr Shah has never spoken back to his parents and has always respected them, but then it's easy to do so when you are the provider and have the upper hand. Baa loved her alpha male beta and Bapuji preferred to take the easy road. As always. Even today, he only spoke up after Anupama said her bit.

People like Mr Shah are manipulators par excellence. His self obsession borders on delusion. Dangerous because he actually believes what we see as delusions.
