I have watched a lot of Bollywood movies from the last three decades but apart from Sholay none before the 90s. Are there any great ones? Never see any discussion for them on social media, it seems they are forgotten

They are not forgotten. Just not discussed here.

They are popular in classic cinema blogs, forums and nostalgia groups on FB and Whatsapp. Very popular on classic cinema channels on TV as well.

Among commercial ones, work of Amitabh, Vinod Khanna, Dharmendra, Rajesh Khanna, Hema Malini, Rekha, Parveen Babi, Zeenat Aman, Sharmila Tagore, Jaya Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Sunil Dutt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sridevi, Jackie Shroff, Meenakshi Seshadri, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajendra Kumar, Amrish Puri, Pran, Asha Parekh, Sadhana, Nutan, Nargis, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Raaj Kumar, Madhubala, Waheeda Rehman, Vyjanthimala, Guru Dutt, Suchitra Sen, Poonam Dhillon, Padmini Kolhapure, Tina Munim, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Jeetendra, Shatrughan Sinha, Rishi Kapoor, Mala Sinha etc would be good to check out.

Among parallel cinema ones Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi, Smita Patil, Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Supriya Pathak, Amol Palekar are best to start off.

Zee Classic, Zee Anmol, Set Max2 keep showing older films if you want to see old stuff on TV.

Hatim Tai (aged very badly, but I remember loving it when I watched it as a kid 😆)

Padosan (Sunil Dutt starrer)

Just watched Zanjeer for the first time and really enjoyed it. The story was gritty and the performances were great (Amitabh obviously but Pran as Sher Khan was very memorable too).

Honestly liked it more than any modern Bollywood movie from the past few years. Looking forward to watching more classic older movies
