If only falsettos are a criteria then Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassan, even Mohd Rafi were all flop singers right?

QSQT is listed among 100 greatest albums of all time by Planet Bollywood.

It's songs were both popular and critically acclaimed.

Papa kehte hain continued to be played at farewell parties at school and colleges even till 2000s.

QSQT is the film which catapulted Udit and Alka to the top and especially benefitted Alka as she climbed up the ladder from being just another one of new singers in 80s.

Udit has remained voice of Aamir Khan for more than a decade. He also scored voice of SRK.

By no means is he a limited singer. He has hits in all genres and still sounds fresh, youthful for his age.

Udit is an ORIGINAL voice BTW. He was never a wannabe Kishore Kumar like Sanu and Abhijeet or a duplicate of Rafi like Sonu. His voice quality is entirely fresh, original unlike other singers.

Udit's one Ae Ajnabi from Dil se is enough to give many singers of today a run for their money.

where the hell is his all genre songs are why didnt he got them released as i know those love songs which used to get released in films only 🥱 stop exaggerating things ,,,, udit had the area of romantic song and he was a romantic singer only by no chance anyone can call him a versatile singer ,,, he became voice of so and so is not my concern as a singer he was very limted that is what i am saying , he became amir khan voice or so and amir seriously give damn to his singers , what amir said is on record that its his face which make the song popular and not vice versa ....

PKH was playedat my farewell post 2010 also. Its a must for every batch.

Even as a kid, I might have not enjoyed the newer singers at the time as much as I enjoyed Udit's voice. There was something very sweet and magical about it. Like I said, hero ki awaaz. Listen to it on cassette or CD and you still know that hero gaa raha hai on screen. Not many singers have this quality.

@bold: Absolutely true.

And sad songs ki baat kiye hai toh this one also gives you the feels 💔

There is a reason Udit Narayan never got approached to recreate songs of yesteryear singers. Unlike others who remained duplicates for years before they got their first break.

Udit was an out and out original voice, fresh, unique and unlike anyone else heard before.

He scored voice for top actors of 90s.

Aamir specifically owes his stardom to Udit's songs in 80s, 90s and early 2000s. And he may have argued with Javed but even he used Udit's voice for himself in his first home production Lagaan which later won National awards and got nominated at Oscars.

Udit gave Aamir, SRK, Salman hit songs even if their films flopped.

All of Aamir's iconic songs before 2002 are Udit songs. Papa kehte hain or Pehla Nasha or Ae mere humsafar or Pardesi pardesi jaana nahi, Yaaron sunlo zara, Kya kare kya na kare, Mujhe neend na aaye, Ishq hua etc.

Seconded.

In fact have you noticed that Udit even sang for his own songs' remakes. Like Tip Tip and Cheez Badi. And even when he sang songs occasionally in films past 2010, I would get excited in the theatres after hearing him. Because that song would probably not be out in albums or as promo material. In fact the song could've been terrible, but listening to Udit's voice made me happy.

Every actor in the 90s has had at least iconic popular song sung by Udit.

To undermind his success and versatility is just pitiful.
