A career in medicine is not for everyone.
If you want to be a doctor and go for medicine, you should like to help people. You should be willing to study a lot. Getting into medicine is a dream of many people.
If you go for medicine, you get to give a gift to someone new everyday by just helping them.

exactly... even unis are now very selective about who they choose to be medics... and you have to show ur commitment in ur PS, in the interview, thru work experience, through caring for toehrs.... medicine isn't easy... but it is respectable, it is heroic, and ir is demanding

hey!

This is an interesting subject! i guess what you're saying is true to a certain extent...however, it also depends on the schools you go to, the area you live in, your upbringing and environment etc etc....

For example, in areas where there are a lot of private schools etc, children are almost 'trained' or 'groomed' to opt for such courses...

i'm a 4th year medic, and when i first started...i don't think it was as popular as it's now becoming! very interesting! :0)

the competition is due to the lack of medics in the developing parts of the world... once that matter is resolved, more people will start taking other subjects...
