Hey GHTPMians,
I know this chapter is quite a boring one. I myself got bored while writing it. 🤣
Maybe that's the reason why it took me so long to write it but I believe it was needed to move forward. I hate writing a lot of dialogues. I like the narration more because I can write the emotions and the scenes better but in this chapter the dialogues overpowered because a lot was happening between the Chavan siblings.
Sunny is a true friend and he genuinely loves the Chavan siblings. He will do anything to keep them united. I liked writing LunRat serious talk. She knows what the brothers mean to each other.
I feel like the douchebag side of Virat from the show is overpowering the goodness of Virat from this story. I have intentionally cut off all the bad sides of Virat to write a better version of him in this story. If you remember it correctly, this Virat didn't do anything wrong like the show Virat did. He didn't manhandle Sai ever apart from keeping her locked that too to protect her ? He is a better IPS officer than in the show and uses his brains. Unlike in the show, he is quite firm about Pakhi being no one to him. He always makes it clear when they are alone and also in front of the family. Always makes sure he corrects Pakhi and supports Sai when she is targetted. He is quite open. Doesn't keep his mouth shut like in the show. The only thing I have added is the fight of the brothers but that too much letter. He initially wanted to fix the things but also let Samrat take his time to forget and forgive him. It's only when Samrat started getting involved in Virat and Sai's matter that Virat started losing his patience. So I fail to understand why some of you feel that Virat deserves the hate from his siblings or from Sai. I really want you to visualize a better version of Virat while reading this story not keep in mind the ugly side of Virat of the show because what's the point for me to write this story then ?
Thank you to everyone for showering this story with so much love and for the reviews.
« Virat. », Samrat shouted raising his hand to slap him but stopped midway. « All the people who loves you are one by one going away from you. You don't deserve anyone's love. », he added.
Virat didn't retort as he didn't want to make it uglier but he was hurt. Sunny came at the right time.
« Samrat bas kar yaar. Kuch bhi bol raha hai bina kuch jaane. », Sunny was about to reveal the entire truth.
« Sunny chhod na. », Virat stopped him.
« Why ? », Sunny questioned Virat angrily as he hated people taking advantage of his patience to bash him. « Samrat, you love Sai bhabhi as your own little sister that's a very good thing. She needs a support system. But try to see it from Virat's perspective too. Did you know that Virat was getting letters from an unknown person who was threatening to kill Sai bhabhi if she didn't stop her investigations to prove Pulkit innocent ? Of course not. How would you when you are too busy hating on your brother ? His doubt was on someone from the family which is why he couldn't even tell anyone why he locked Sai bhabhi in a safe house and then in her own room. And guess what ?He was right. Your own wife was behind those letters. », he lashed out at Samrat.
« What ? », Samrat was shocked just like everyone present there.
« Sai bhabhi is still a kid, we understand her impulsiveness. But what happened to you dude ? Did you ever think how stressful it was for him ? On one hand his family members turned out criminals and on the other hand he was fearing for his wife's safety. What would have you done in his place ? He doesn't deserve anyone's love ? Seriously ? Don't worry, Jeeva's love for Shiva can run short but he still has his best friend Sunny to love him. », Sunny couldn't finish that Virat jumped at him to hug him.
Virat couldn't stop his tears from streaming down his face. He was misunderstood by many but his friend was always there for him. His real brother hated him but his friend turned out the brother he needed during his tough time.
« Ek number ka idiot hai tu. Why don't you tell everyone the truth ? Mandir ka ghanta kyun banta hai tu joh har koi aa ke baja jaata hai? », Sunny asked Virat then continued with Samrat, « Shayad is gadhe ne tujhe bataya nahin par woh gaya tha Sai bhabhi ko lane. Usne aa ne se mana kar diya. Let me clear it to you that Virat isn't indifferent about Sai bhabhi moving out from the house. He knew she wouldn't accept to come back home but he couldn't also take the risk to let her go back to Gadchiroli that's why he asked DIG Sir to help him to keep her safe in one of his houses. » After a little pause he continued, « Come on you are brothers. Be each other's support system, be the Jeeva Shiva you were once upon a time. »
Sunny tried to clear the misunderstandings between the brothers. Samrat realized that he was still bitter towards his brother and that was destroying their relationship. He should have understood that something big was going on when he begged everyone to listen to him and trust him. Why does he always forget that whatever his brother has done so far it was always for Sai's wellbeing ? Why does he forget that he genuinely cares for her ? Sunny was right, it was time to forget the past and embrace the present. He walked towards his brother to apologize and start afresh but Virat passed by him before even he could say anything.
« Give him some time. He is dealing with a lot. His wife is not with him, he is confused about his feelings, he is divided between his duty and his family. », Sunny explained to Samrat.
Samrat was pacing up and down on the balcony. Pakhi was responsible of his fall out with his brother. She was responsible of Virat and Sai’s miserable married lives. She was responsible of his own miserable life. She was responsible of every damn issues in the family. Ever since she entered the house, the Chavans have lost their peace and the unity. Every damn day there was a drama happening because of her. He wanted to fix everything that was destroyed by his wife. He got interrupted in his thoughts by someone.
« So Mr. Gadha Salunkhe is restless now after his verbal diarrhea ? », she asked startling him.
« I didn’t know it was a national news but you are right this gadha is a real gadha. », he replied.
« Devi Tai and Mohit informed me. Wanna talk ? », Luna asked.
« Not really. », he replied sitting on the terrasse couch.
« I know Virat had a past with Patralekha and he hid the truth from you but you have to understand why he did that. », she said taking a seat in front of him. « Giving up on your love is not an easy task unless you are giving up for someone special, a brother he called Jeeva for example. Things would have been easier if he told you that he loved Patralekha but he didn’t because he didn’t want to break your heart just a day before your wedding. I agree it sounds quite stupid but maybe that was the best thing to do. God definitely had better plans. He sent him to Sai to take her responsibility. And believe me, I see the love he has for Sai in his eyes. Patralekha is long forgotten. », she continued.
« I know but it’s hard to forget the betrayal. », he replied angry with his own self.
« See, I know how it feels to be bitter to someone who is your family. My fight with my dad is since forever. There is no way I can make things better between us. You and Virat have two decades of love, understanding and respect for each other. You can make things better. I am telling this to you because you are my friend but I don't have the same rights on Virat to knock some sense into his head too. », she said.
« I know I have to be the bigger brother. », he said.
« You are the big brother dumbo but yeah younger brothers are pain in the ass. », she replied with a smile thinking about her own little brother.
« Thank you for always being there for me. I don’t know what would I have done without you. », Samrat said taking her hand in his.
« You wouldn’t have survived in this cruel world. », she replied dramatically. « By the way aaj kal hum zyada hi nahin mil rahe hain ? We both had to almost die to spend some time together and catch up the years we have lost due to work. », she added.
« Feels like old days of college. », he went back to his old memories.
They let the silence install but smiled lost in thoughts.
Virat thought the entire day about his fight with his brother. If he was hurt by Samrat’s hurtful words, he too was hurtful towards him. He didn’t know how long the things will stay ugly between them but he wanted to apologize for his behavior. After dinner he knocked on Samrat’s room door.
« I am sorry for being mean to you this morning. », Virat apologized from the other side of the door.
« Aandar aa. », Samrat said. « I am not going to kill you, come inside. », he said when he saw Virat being hesitant.
« It’s not because Jeeva and Shiva don’t exist anymore that we have to fight like uncivilized people. Things can be solved nicely. So I am sorry. », Virat said once inside.
« I am sorry too for all the things I have said without knowing the entire truth. », Samrat apologized too.
« It’s ok. », Virat replied and turned his back to leave.
« Virat, things will be better from now on. », Samrat said confidently.
« Maybe. », Virat turned around to reply and then left.
Samrat wanted to fix everything that’s why the next morning he went to meet Sai at her new place. He explained everything to her. Why Virat put her in a safe house and why he couldn’t share anything with the family as he himself didn’t know whom to trust and whom not to trust. He also told her that if DIG Sir stopped her from leaving Nagpur it was because Virat had requested him to do so. Sai got mad at herself for not trusting Virat’s intentions. Ever since they have met he had always protected her. She felt guilty for interfering in his investigations. She could have ruined everything for him. He wouldn’t have behaved badly with her if she followed his instructions. Her anger towards her husband vanished as soon as she realized that his intentions were always good for her. She agreed to return to Chavan Niwas with Samrat.
Sai’s well wishers were happy to see her back in the house. Mohit helped her to carry the luggage to her room. She asked Ashwini if she can help for the haldi ceremony. Ashwini told her to get ready quickly. Virat was back from his duty and was about to go upstairs when he saw Sai walking down the stairs in her yellow saree. He devoured her with his eyes thinking he was again dreaming about her. It had become a habit since a few days. He bit his tongue to come out of his reverie. Sai was after all gone forever. But Ashwini commenting on her beauty made him realize that she was there for real. Sai timidly approached him with a smile, ready to accept him in her life.
« Virat Sir… », she started.
« Sai. », he interrupted her with a tight hug.
Sai was surprised but liked it. Everyone stared at them, some because they were happy and some others because they were jealous. Virat didn’t care about anything else. He only wanted to have her in his arms.
« I should have trusted you and let you deal alone instead of interfering unnecessary. I don’t know what happens to me every time I see something wrong happening or a loved one in trouble that I always feel the need to help. », she said still in his arms.
« That’s not a problem Sai. You just have to learn to stop at the right moment. Anyways, I am sorry for not trusting you either. I was too scared that even if I will tell you the truth, you will ruin all my efforts in catching the real culprits. », Virat apologized for a fresh start while everyone was still watching them into each other’s arms.
« I know everything that’s why I came back. Samrat dada told me everything. », she replied.
Virat immediately broke the hug and lost his smile. She wasn’t back for him. She was back because of Samrat. Sai was confused why he suddenly distanced himself and looked unpleased.
« Welcome back. This is after all your home too. », he managed to say sadly.
« Thanks. », she smiled even though she didn’t understand why he went from super excited to unpleased mode.
Virat made sure Devyani gets a memorable wedding, the one every woman deserved. But Devyani realized that Virat wasn’t the same Virat anymore. Between all her brothers, he was the one who always made her feel special and accepted her the way she was. When no one even cared to know how lonely she used to feel in her room, he was the one who would come to meet her with her favorite food and toys. She didn’t like that distant Virat and was making faces.
« What happened Devi Tai ? Why are you making ugly faces on your special day ? », Sunny asked noticing that she was looking at Virat every few seconds.
« Dekh na Sunny, Veeru didn’t even come once to wish me or tell me how I was looking. », she continued to make faces.
« You are a smart girl, right ? », he asked knocking on her head. « Who do you think loves you the most between your four brothers ? », he continued.
« Four brothers ? », she asked confused.
« Haan toh mein bhi hoon na ? », he replied.
« Ohh waise. », she smiled.
« Haan waise. Now tell me who do you think loves you the most ? I mean we all love you but who always supports you, takes a stand for you, brings gifts for you, spends time with you, accepts you the way you are ? », he asked.
« Wohi toh… phir kyun mujhse naraz hai ? », she asked making a sad face.
He facepalmed, « Your name shouldn’t be Devi Tai but Buddhu Tai. Are you even aware of how mean you were to him ? He is making sure you get the wedding of your dreams because he loves you as a brother but he is keeping himself away from you because you have hurt him as a sister. »
« I know. », she was almost about to cry.
« Now don’t cry, please. », he consoled her. « Go and say sorry. He will forget everything. », he suggested.
Devyani walked up to Virat and went into his arms. He got surprised and asked her if she was fine. She snobbed and said sorry. Virat smiled and hugged her back tightly. His love for his sister was bigger than the emotional tormoil he was going through. Samrat watched everything getting back to normal with a smile.
Pulkit came to the Chavan Niwas with Harini and Madhuri. Both the families wanted the groom and the bride to have the haldi together. Pulkit introduced Harini to Sai.
« Wow Veeru mamu, your wife is so pretty. », she said.
« But you are prettier. », both Sai and Virat said at the same time and then felt awkward.
Sai was impressed seeing Harini glued to her Veeru mamu the entire time. He would become a good father one day.
The ceremony started and they all had fun. Harini's first family function turned out a memorable one for her. Kaku and Ninad kept themselves away from the function with Ninad still trying to bail out his brother and the elder daughter in-law of the house. A helpless Sonali locked herself in her room. Sai could feel that Virat was relieved that she was back in the house but there was something broken inside him. His words came back hitting her. She has caused a lot of trouble in his life. She wondered if coming back was the right decision.
