I was particularly upset with the monologues in his head :

When the ring disappears : “Ab Ye angooti kahan gaayab ho gaya..!!!!!!” REALLY! He is going to go against the law and should be happy for whatever reason the stupid engagement would be getting postponed

When it’s shown that Raavi has the ring: “ Tho iska matlab hai ki ye Chipkali ye sagayi nahi chahthi”- UhDUH… she had to do this to make him understand this?

May be everytime she is in front of him, his brain seizes to work. 🙄All the time she’s screaming and shouting at him he doesn’t hear a thing - just keeps thinking how gorgeous she is

I feel it’s true - I don’t know if you know the story of the tamarind show . It was there in multiple regional languages. In one of the regional versions, -Malayalam version- though I didnot see every episode I understood that in the end the ML supports the FL ( who is a girl from a tribal village) so that she can achieve her ambition of being a doctor. It was a very very different story. Their relationship is platonic but there is a series of misunderstandings . It ran for 600-700 episodes and did well regionally from what I understand. But the mere idea of such a track would not fly I think with a national audience.

In Sitara version- it’s their romance that is the main track and the first wife second wife tussle and whom he chooses and drama of whom family accepts. Which was interesting in the beginning but became too messed up for me.

TBH I enjoy and watch most of these shows for the romance also. I do enjoy a well told romance. But I don’t see why they have to show case abusive behavior on part of MILs and the ideal DIL being silent and males not standing up for their wives. I am sure they will gain more TRP if they can showcase supportive males

To simply put it, you don't see this kind of abuse in regional shows. There is some amount of it but not to the extent we see in PS.

All the 3 bahus get insulted on a daily basis in this show and no one including the bahus stand up to her. Rishita is trying but not going anywhere with it.

Suman did not hesitate to throw water at Dhara thought she is pregnant, when Shiva and Raavi came back from the court and the drama happened in the middle of the street.

When Dhara told Disha'a parents about Pandya parivar and Shiva and Suman, she was absolutely right about them

evn dev opened mouth in front of suman during washing clothes sequence... Ek baar finally reshita ko support kiya.

Shivaay Singh Oberoi from Ishqbaaz, Gul Khan. He and ASR were Gul's most successful MLs. Although for the most part I'm not fans because of the fact that they thought manhandling was normal, and the mental abuse they put FLs through during MUs were horrible, there were eventually scenes where they supported FL in front of the family. Even went against the family for FL. When viewed individually these scenes are nice.

Though I don't recommend either of the shows. Too much abuse of FL to watch and stay sane. Mistakes I attempted to commit on hotstar. Experience talking. Never watch Gul Khan.

Shiva 2.0 has no thought process. He's a robot and the controller is his mother.😆

@bold I think that even more than abuse not being shown, it's the fact that abuse is never normalised or romanticized in regional shows. At least in Tamil shows. If there's a bad MIL, then there's a bad MIL until a redemption track is given. An abusive husband is exactly that, an abusive husband. And this kind of attitude is something I remember even from older shows.

And in these shows, if the FL is meant to be working or studying then that's not just an opportunity for different costumes. You actually see it affecting their lives. Shows are simply more practical and moral regionally.
