Pasting what I said on another thread:
It’s funny - I’m appalled, but not really surprised that the uproar and sympathy is for the doer - Pratik, and not the one at the receiving end - Rajiv.
It’s an unfortunate staple on this show - jiske zyaada fans - usko zyaada sympathy. No matter what. And as I said - it’s appalling.
And the comparisons are utterly juvenile - nothing anyone has engaged in there - jokes, camaraderie, provocation, property destruction, violence in tasks - is comparable to homophobic mocking and harassment. Because the latter are not friendly, and neither are they spur of the moment things that come out as a result of provocation and or a heated situation - they’re intentional. Brought about by a mindset.
And it pissed me off to no end when he wouldn’t even accept initially the shit he did - only jumping to apologising when he realized Sallu was not going to let it go. And when the likes of Pratik, Vishal and Nishant (and then later Karan and Shamita as well) - kept trying to dilute the issue by stressing ke Pratik ka “intention” nahi tha. Trying to make it seem ke it came across wrong but wasn’t meant to be. Wtf? I’d like someone to ask these people - how on earth does one make fun of another’s sexuality like this - without intention?
And I’d be grateful if Pratik would therefore STFU with his whole “‘mera tumhe hurt karne ka intention genuinely nahi tha, mera woh meaning genuinely nahi tha, blah blah blah”. Because Pratik has been an adult for quite some time now - and if he doesn’t know by now that homophobic harassment is hurtful, then I don’t know what to say. And then he has the nerve to contend that others don’t own up to their own shit.
What this has done, more than anything else - is shown viewers that Pratik isn’t the sweet little innocent that can be annoying but never truly shitty. Viewers other than his fans of course.
This "intention nahi hai" bullcrap has ALWAYS been his excuse. You can say it only once, not twice or thrice or every time. Like you said - he is a grown ass man who has gotten proper education and sense to know what is right and what is wrong, it's not about the intention but the fact he should have NEVER done it in the first place no matter how friendly they both are.
@bold:
Honest to god, this made it so much worse for me when they all kept trying to divert the topic to something else be it body shaming or Afsana, they purposely bought all that up (Neha, Shamita, Nishant and Vishal)
It was so obvious they wanted to turn the topic elsewhere to ensure they escape the heat from this but they failed, thankfully! Because this is a SERIOUS issue that definitely deserves attention.
Wo hone ke baad later they come up with - "wo intention nahi tha, tum dono hamesha haste khelte rehte ho" wagera wagera so humhe pata nahi tha.
I'm like shut up already! You saw, you know yet you did not say anything, when you know something wrong is being done and it doesn't matter if they are both comfortable with it, it is still something wrong that is being shown on national television then you should speak up.
You should just tell him to cut it out bas, wo karta hai ya nahi baad ka hai but whatever was being done was plain wrong.
This is the only reason I liked Teja today because she was the only one who did not try to justify whatever happened there.
Baadme hagg diya usne bhi but not as badly as the rest did.
