I just absolutely loved the way she always corrected him. It's Dr. Bose for you 🤣

They are the cutest ugh 😍

S3 has many Devakshi moments that are romantic/steamy/ full of mature love and that's fine but this? Their S1 nok jhok and banter is next level 🥰❤️❤️

It's Dr.bose for you such an amazing dialogue. Dr bose to Mrs dixit was such an amazing journey. And i like the way eri says it, be it dr. Bose for you or its mrs dixit for you. It's something different..

After first breakup, when dev calls her, the way she gently says dev it's Dr.bose for you n the pain felt by dev was so heart touching. Sharica really portrayed well. Now looks like I need to watch them all over again.

Something I just realized about Season 1 and one of the several reasons why it stood out compared to other ITV shows.

It is so much more relatable for today's urban youth than any other ITV show. Now this is the only ITV show I have really watched so I'm not an expert but whatever little I have watched because of my mom, generally the youth are portrayed either as people from extremely conservative families or in a very modern but tacky way.

So there was this huge need gap for youth shows... and as far as I remember, Netflix was very new in India and didn't offer much options. Other streaming services were also not offering anything great.

There were some scenes that could have actually belonged in an American sitcom like the fake boyfriend track - possibly the best take on it, including western shows.

Can also think of a few other moments like Sona taking the lead and organizing their resort stay, the hickey scene, Dev and Natasha's merger talks actually kinda make sense, Bijoy being such a feminist and a hundred other little things.

Realistic is the apt word for it. But just wanted to point out all the little ways in which it manifests in the show.

You know, it's probably the first time I've heard the words "dating", "boyfriend", "girlfriend", "hickey" used so casually and not even in a negative way!

In every other show, there's no concept of dating at all. They fall in love, and the obvious next step is marriage. They would introduce their bf as "yeh woh hai jinse meri shaadi hone waali hai" or "jinse main pyaar karti hoon". People with boyfriends are generally villains or stupid girls that are being taken advantage of by the "boyfriend"

Exactly. Mostly the "youth" shows are set in some small town where the kids are forever scared of their parents finding out the truth.

Here, Sona's family was teasing her before she realized! Dadi was the cutest 😍

Dev, who comes from a traditional family, discussed this in a very matter-of-fact manner with Ishwari. Even uneducated, conservative Ishwari was more bothered by the fact that Dev loved someone else as much as he loved her rather than because Dev had a girlfriend.

Also the script doesn't shy away from using English words... like it's such a small thing but Sona uses words like cliché and cheesy, just like how most urban people speak in "Hinglish". There are just too many little things to count but they make such a huge difference.

Don't even get me started on how girls that fall in love are considered 'un-sanskari'. Good girls are shy, naive and always dress in Salwar Suit. Preferably uneducated. Like, what even?

All the mess created by Season 3 aside, I'm so glad they gave Sona better costumes that Season 1. She was looking 🔥🔥 in those sleeveless blouses. High time modern dresses are normalized and not confirmed to villains/sautans.

Nikki too wore western dresses in Season 1 and she is the funnest, most positive character in Dixit house.

On an unrelated note, also loved the popculture references in the show like Nikki teaching Mamaji how to pout and Tina reading Fifty Shades of Grey in the office 😂😂

The Hinglish part was soooo good. Just like how most of us (at least I do) speak. Little things, but so apparent. For example I remember Sona & Dev saying things like “aapko hi decide karna hai” instead of “aapko hi faisla Lena hai” that whole usage of decide instead of faisla is striking. I remember founding it really nice that they spoke like that. Again, little things but so relatable and most tv shows would still use Hindi words instead English.

Omg and even if they're educated, they have no careers nor any such aspirations. I feel like a lot of the time they might have degrees, but after college they just stay home.

But another thing I liked is how Sona was simultaneously shy, sweet and a total baller. In other serials the no-nonsense type is shown to be like a "gussewaali", and someone that picks fights continuously. Sona was always well behaved and respectful, but still confident and would never let anyone degrade her.
