Imo, Toshu is realistic. I have watched the show on and off so I may be wrong. But from what I have seen, a selfish son may react like this when his mother steps out of the boundary he has set. It is when the woman is not sacrificial and does something for herself only then we get to see the true colors of the men related to her. Kinjal should smarten up and realise toshi is not worth it.

My vote for the despicable shah of them all goes to V. There is nothing more I can add to what had already been said about him.

that is an interesting take and I will agree that its a very close one between V and Toshu...

Toshu represents the young men of our society and I’m not generalising, just going by what I’ve seen back home... they expect women to be sacrificial and when the mums do something against the norm they resort to such crass insults to massage their ego.

Like I said in another post… Anupama should have slapped him down long time ago…. And especially just before she left the Shah house.

He is blinded by society and what they will think when why does that matter…. Surely it should think about his mother’s feelings and wishes.

He is okish about Kinjal working and progressing in life but mothers cannot do that?! He wanted a modern forward thinking wife as he said in a previous argument with Kinjal but he doesn’t want that for his mother. And again Pakhi wants a good education and opportunities and they all want her to do well so why the double standards when it concerns Anupama.

I agree with the generalisation that a lot of men have regressive attitudes towards women especially their mothers but hopefully something positive is being relayed back into society via the show.

If women stood together and truly supported each other they have overcome over half of the problems, challenges and woes that they face (if not almost all)!

Going a little off tangent but you know how it is… when you start typing you just carry on!

Knowing the Shahs and how paritosh was Vanrajs Ladla, had anupama slapped Paritosh the maa Ladla would have tortured her even more.

Vanraj has one set of rules for himself, his new wife and his Baa Baghwan and two favourite children.

They can treat Anupama as they please but Samar and Anupama can't say a word to them.

Such folks are real and their ways are what b real homes.

Patriarchy thrives because of the way we differentiate people from infancy and what they see and what is normalised as values in the name of customs and tradition.

Women are the custodians of this. Unless they re script the waY they relate with friends and family, be understanding and supportive like Devika, Kinjal Dolly who call a spade a spade or treat others differently like Anupama or change and move with times like Kantaben change will not happen.

Anupa treats others the way she would have wanted to be treated. She stands up for others. Now she stands up for herself which is why her journey is beautiful but a roller coaster like one.

Choices we make bring about changes around us. Change has to begin with our thinking. We see the change in Anupama, Kanthaben and Dolly. Baapuji is a changed man.

Sunjay Samar, GK and Anuj are shown to be willing to listen to logic and change. The idiots are operating from a static fixed mindset.

For the situation to change we need a dynamic, organic evolving, growing mindset.

Enjoyed reading your take… in particular that change needs to come from within and Anupama has finally starting embracing the need for change and the journey that lies ahead will be for all of us to travel with her. We will be happy and disappointed in this rollercoaster of hers.

And yes, Anupama treats people the way that she would like to treated. It’s good to do that but sometimes people mistake your goodness for naivety as I feel this has been the case. Good people will see the good in people and those not as nice will see the bad… hence the divide it the characters in the drama.

Anupama cannot be bad to bad folks as that is their nature not hers. Of course what is clear is she will pick her battles but fight she will.
