A lot of people are saying after today's episode that Imlie is some kind of feminist because she had that out of the blue fight with Rupi's husband. But I want to reiterate that the makers have made a doormat of her and a sudden feminist episode will not undo any of this on the show for either Imlie or Aditya or their families...

1. Imlie's need to be the help despite being bahu because she's lowborn. Note Malini does no work.

2. Imlie's case being shot down by Aditya and his family for "izzat" and the child.

3. Imlie's acceptance of her husband having a child (by accident or not) with her sister! EWW! Imlie turning around and caring for Malini and trying to be Choti Maa when everything in her religion says no to that and she's supposed to be devout.

4. Malini being accepted in a house where the mother definitely knows Imlie had a case to prove rape. Yet, she thinks the child is "khush khabri." Aparna and her bhabi have no salvation.

5. Imlie trying to win over the keepers of the patriarchy by staying in a house where she is expected to put up with her husband's rape.

6. Imlie thinking it is okay that her husband trusts rapey didi more than her.

7. Imlie being okay with her mother living with the liar she refuses as her father.

8. Imlie making dependents of all her family while rejecting the only man who always stood up for her - Sattyakam.

9. Imlie changing her dreams to be like Aditya when her skills clearly show that they is better made to be a crime stopper

10. Imlie putting up with a family that saw her as illegal, lowborn, and a gold-digger which also keeps a richer ex-wife in.

Why don't people make topics or respond to them here?

Hey Mary,

honestly do not really visit forum as much as before. Having read your post it is true in real life Imlie would have questioned or protested and done exactly the way you have put in your story.

however, as this is ITV, even though the real actors themselves dont agree to this they are doing it for entertainment and in society most people in india's towns, cities are of actually very regressive mentality and expect similar things as imlie is doing in the series.

they will keep on hurting women who standup for themselves

Tagging you all to give your perspective as well.

the forum has become silent since a month now and people don't usually look at the list of topics, they look out for couple of threads by specific OPs. So it would be helpful if you could tag a few so that the activity will bring the thread to the top and people start to notice.

1. Imlie's need to be the help despite being bahu because she's lowborn. Note Malini does no work.

All the women of T-house are shown working but Imlie never sat at the table and that's because she wasn't accepted by the "elders". Now that she is, I hope they make her sit atleast once in a blue moon to show equality and also because all of them got up and left when Adi tried to make her sit.

2. Imlie's case being shot down by Aditya and his family for "izzat" and the child.

Drama Drama Drama - I just hope Imlie brings this up later, M needs to be punished.

3. Imlie's acceptance of her husband having a child (by accident or not) with her sister! EWW! Imlie turning around and caring for Malini and trying to be Choti Maa when everything in her religion says no to that and she's supposed to be devout.

Drama again

4. Malini being accepted in a house where the mother definitely knows Imlie had a case to prove rape. Yet, she thinks the child is "khush khabri." Aparna and her bhabi have no salvation.

Contrivance to keep M relevant. Aparna & Radha in real life would be left alone by both Adi & Imlie but this is ITV, we have to accept things like these that we can't change and move on.

5. Imlie trying to win over the keepers of the patriarchy by staying in a house where she is expected to put up with her husband's rape.

Again, just for the drama. Imlie should've left right after the court scene.

6. Imlie thinking it is okay that her husband trusts rapey didi more than her.

This is again a contrivance to justify her staying and still wanting to help him despite his obtuseness

7. Imlie being okay with her mother living with the liar she refuses as her father.

Ultimate contrivance to keep AC relevant

8. Imlie making dependents of all her family while rejecting the only man who always stood up for her - Sattyakam.

Again, this is for the above contrivance to happen

9. Imlie changing her dreams to be like Aditya when her skills clearly show that they is better made to be a crime stopper

She is just 19 so I'll give it to her for getting inspired by her husband's work

10. Imlie putting up with a family that saw her as illegal, lowborn, and a gold-digger which also keeps a richer ex-wife in.

That's just the weak Imlie who wants the family, no matter how bad they've treated her. She's not gonna leave them.

Having said all of this, I can't tell if Imlie is a feminist, she never demanded equality for herself except for the crowd confrontation incident of PD3. She never dared or should I say cared to question the family for not holding Adi accountable for what has happened like she questioned the PD crowd. She's more of a human rights activist and blame-taker who has little to no self-respect when it comes to the T-fam. Her extreme and unrealistic kindness contributes to the above behaviour. She did fight for other girls but not for herself cuz she's selfless. So I really can't tell.

Also, feminism has really become subjective now so we can't actually tell who is right or wrong. This is strictly my opinion please feel free to disagree.

Hi Mary,

All the points you have mentioned are valid. Personally, I am okay with most of it as atleast I can trace those action back to some valid emotion. One thing that hurts the most is Adi not doing anything to make amends for that night. And Like I mentioned in your FF thread, him not believing Imlie is keeping the wound open.

Some one asked in EDT today that what Imlie expects Adi to do. I think she only expects one thing. His acknowledgement that, that night was result of Malini's active planning and that Malini is still not over him.

Like she said, she tolerated seeing him in bed with Malini because she knew he was innocent and Malini manipulated him. But by not believing her on this, its like he is not doing anything at all to punish the person who gave such deep pain to both of them. By punishment I don't mean sending Malini to jail or throwing her out of T-house. Even Imlie will not agree to this.

Only he has the power to punish and stop Malini in her madness but he is letting her go scot-free. His taunts are not effective. Malini is still playing with them. Imlie is hurt by that night more than she knows or showing and he has to step up to heal that hurt.

I get that he has no reason to doubt Malini yet but why is not even investigating the reason behind Imlie's doubt on her. He can say that I am with you in investigating until you or I am convinced of Malini's stand. There is nothing wrong in that. Only way I can make sense of this is that his system is blocking all thoughts in direction which would reveal Maini's true face.

Sorry for long rant. Will stop now.

I agree Aartiji

Imlie has always given the family and Adi the choice to do things. She never thinks about herself. even SK had told Adi of this earlier and he had promised that he will always support her.

this entire phase of Malini coming to her realization will happen only once Adi realizes that the last 7 years of relationship in his life is a lie.

hopefully in the serial they dont end up dragging it as they are not even allowing or Imlie herself is also not leaving adi or Ts.
