'I am more attached to Paanchvi Pass than KBC'

Shah Rukh Khan first tasted success in his television shows, Fauji and Circus. Life seems to have come full circle, and the superstar is back adorning the small screen with Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai. The show, inspired from the international TV show, Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader. Shah Rukh spoke to Chief Correspondent Syed Firdaus Ashraf about the show, and much, much more. You started your career with television, and now you're returning to it. Life seems to have come full circle. I think the lines are getting more and more blurred. Corporates now talk about 360 degrees of entertainment. The good old days are over. The next revolution will be downloadable digital entertainment. We will do lot more on computers and mobile phones. Television has taken a huge leap in the last five years. People are already talking about watching television on the telephone. Who knows, maybe five years later, my film will release on the telephone! Is this a cycle? No, this is the growth of different mediums, synergizing and getting attached together. So all this talk of you started with television and came back to television? I have maintained my film career, and am always on television, anyway. I am glad that I can entertain people in all the available mediums. You always say that you are child at heart. Is that why you signed Paanchvi Pass? I am very like a child at heart. I enjoy the small and simple pleasures of life. I enjoy interacting with children. I like the innocence of this show. When I teach my children, I forget the fact that I have forgotten so many things in life. How many bones are there in human body? You don't know that today. My son is in Std 5 and my daughter is in Std 3. The other day I was teaching my son bar graphs. I had completely forgotten that. So here is a show that will invoke emotion in everyone. I am more attached to Paanchvi Pass than Kaun Banega Crorepati because that restricted me to be the person I am. Here, I can hug kids and do these things. My kids love it when I teach them because I make it very entertaining. I give them 10 questions and the answers are hidden all around the home. My friends' children also say that it is best to learn things from Shah Rukh uncle. You have five bright kids in Paanchvi Pass. Do they have the same qualities that you had when you were a child?

Children behave very beautifully. They are naive and innocent, untouched by social and ethical restrictions. Sometimes, you find them rude but still forgivable because the child doesn't know certain things. Society has not touched you that much, so I really appreciate their freedom. For example, if I ask them who their favourite actor, they will say, Hrithik Roshan. An elder would have said, Shah Rukh Khan. But kids think freely and honestly.
