Part 1

Virks’ House — Moga

After checking that she has packed all of her belongings and nothing has left behind, Tejo pulled her suitcase out of the room and went to greet the Virks for the last time. After a crying session with Dadi and Dadaji along with their blessings, she proceeded to Khushbeer to take his, as well.

“Papa ji, don’t worry everything will be okay so will I. This daughter of yours is courageous, she knows how to handle herself.”

“But Tejo,” he was interrupted by Tejo, as she said, “I’ll continue to keep in touch with you, fikar na kar.” She took his blessings and went to Mahi’s room.

Mahi was laying on her bed crying rivers of tears. Tejo was heartbroken at the sight. She has grown fond of Mahi ever since she stepped in Virks’ house. The youngest of the Virks was what she wished her sister would be- compassionate and supportive.

“Mahi,” Tejo called out to her.

She quickly wiped her tears and looked in the direction of the voice.

“Bhabhi—I mean Tejo di, are you leaving now?” She enquired.

“Not exactly, Mahi. In about 15 minutes, I’ll leave. I’m just saying my final goodbyes but I won’t say it to you, because I’ll still keep in contact. Okay?” Tejo said.

Mahi could just hum, since she’s hurt to say any words of comfort to Tejo. Tejo tightly hugged Mahi in an assuring way that it’s all gonna be okay. She pecked Mahi’s temple and exited the room. On her way out, she looked for Gurpreet to bid her bye before she departed for the train station.

She saw Gurpreet on the sofa in the living room in deep thoughts but the sound of the suitcase broke her reverie.

“Aunty ji, I’m sorry for all the pain and hurt that I may have caused your family. I hope that you forgive me, if not today or tomorrow but one day. I’m taking with me your blessings and good wishes, since I knew you’ve always wished the best for me.” Gurpreet was shocked upon hearing Tejo’s words. “I know it’s for the betterment of the situation that you’ve asked me to leave Virk house. And I’m in no position to question your decision or even go against it even if I want to. I came back as a daughter in the family and I’m leaving as the daughter keeping the relationships intact.”

Gurpreet finally spoke up, “Tejo, my dear, I know how deeply hurt you are but I can’t allow my son to leave either. I’m so sorry, there’s a better life for you out there and I hope you find it soon. May all the happiness you deserve be bestowed upon you. Take care of yourself, beta.”

Fateh and Jasmine have just returned from the academy for lunch. He was stunned to see Tejo and her bags at the threshold of the house. Looking in her direction hoping she would say something to him, he got her ignorance in return. As she was about to step foot out of the house, a voice called out to her.

“Tejo,” it was Jasmine who called her. “Aren’t you forgetting something?” she asked. Tejo was utterly confused at the question but still asked, “what am I forgetting, Jasmine?”

“This,” she said as she walked up to Tejo and got hold of her mangalsutra that she was still wearing. Tejo was baffled, she was fighting an inner battle but logic won as she said, “you’re right. This doesn’t belong to me, so I have no right to it anymore.”

As she took off the mangalsutra, Fateh stood there being a hurt spectator to the events. Tejo walked up to him, took hold of his hands and placed the mangalsutra in them. He kept glancing between her face and the mangalsutra that was now placed in his hands.

Four Years Later — Chandigarh

“Sia, come baby. It’s just a little bit, please drink it.”

“Mumma, I don’t want to drink milk. It’s too yuck,” the little troublemaker said.

“Sia,-” she was interrupted by the doorbell. “I’ll be back and you have to finish this before you head to school.”

“Good Morning,” the visitor at the door said, as Tejo opened the door.

“Good Morning,” she replied.

“Where is the little devil?” the visitor asked.

“She’s throwing tantrums as she doesn’t want to drink milk, help me out?” Tejo said.

“What will I get in return?” the intruder asked.

“Oh please, Aarav. Helpppp meee,” Tejo whined and pushed him into the dining area.

“Hey Princess,” Aarav greeted Sia as he pecked her cheeks. “All ready for school?”

“No dada, Mumma is giving me milk,” she complained.

“But baby, milk makes you strong. Don’t you want to be strong like Mumma,” he asked Sia.

“Mumma isn’t strong, Dada more strong,” she said and giggled whilst leaving Tejo dumbfounded. Aarav suppressed his laugh looking at Tejo and listening to Sia.

“Okay Sia, no more teasing Mumma. Hurry up, drink your milk or else I’m not taking you to the park after school today,” he told her.

Sia gulped her milk down and hurriedly wiped her lips whilst looking at her parents. “Okay dada, all done!” she said, giving them a thumbs up.

Aarav gives a victory smile to Tejo as he’s accomplished the task she’s given to him. She returned the smile to him as she handed Sia’s backpack to him. Aarav collected the bag from Tejo, hugged her and pecked her temple. “See you later, baby” he whispered in her ears leaving her flushed as he called out to Sia as it was time for them to leave before she gets late for pre-K. Giving Tejo one glance at the door and a wink he left. Tejo was blushing as she continued to get ready for work.

The day passed with Tejo in Aarav and Sia’s thoughts whilst simultaneously focusing on her work.

It was 4:30 p.m when she got home. As she opened the door, she heard laughter echoing in her living room. She entered and was greeted with a heartwarming scene. Aarav was on the floor tickling Sia as she squealed for Aarav to stop tickling her.

“Hey,” Tejo greeted the duo as their laughter died down.

“Mummaaaa.” Sia shouted as she got up and ran to Tejo and hugged her legs.

“Aww, you missed me that much?” Tejo asked.

“Haww, no Mumma. Save me from Dada, he tickles me.” Sia said.

Tejo’s eyes widened at Sia’s confession and Aarav bursted out laughing. Tejo glared at Aarav and he stopped. Sia giggled at her mom’s expressions before saying, “I missed you Mumma and so did Dada.”

“I missed you too, baba” Tejo told Sia.

“And Dada, did you miss him too?” Sia innocently asked her mom, leaving Tejo speechless and blushing.

Aarav was looking at Tejo expectantly as he hoped she said yes to Sia’s question.

Tejo’s phone ringing saved her from answering the question. It was from Khushbeer. Despite leaving Moga for 4 years, she still kept in contact with him, they had that unbreakable father-daughter bond. She answered.

“Hello,” she said.

“I’m fine, Papa. How are you?”

“Sia is fine, just being her mischievous self,” Tejo said and Sia glared at her.

“No, she’s having a two weeks break from school at that time.”

“Really?! Oh my god, I’m so excited!”

“Okay Papa, we will talk later. Bye, take care.”

Sia and Aarav could only hear one side of the phone conversation. After that one call, Tejo couldn’t stop smiling.

“Simran Di and Buzzo are getting married next month. The dates have been finalized today and Papa has called to inform me. They’ve invited Sia, you and I to the wedding?” Tejo told Aarav.

Aarav was very happy that Tejo was happy but a little insecure about her going back to Moga since it was where he also resided. He always wondered whether she still had feelings for him, that's why she couldn’t accept his proposal until now.

Tejo saw the change in Aarav’s expressions and had an idea as to what he was thinking about. She slowly made her way to him and kept her hands over his as to assure him it’s not what he thinks it is. He figured out her move and relaxed suddenly.

“So, are you coming with us to Moga? You know Sia, she won’t allow you to stay here alone?” Tejo raised her eyebrows and asked him.
“Of course I’m going with you. I need to follow my girls everywhere they go,” he said, pulling them into a hug.

So Sia is FaTejo’s kid. Aarav is a father figure to her. He likes Tejo but Tejo hasn’t said yes to him yet and Fateh is obviously gonna be done with Jasmine. Jasmine is such a 🤬. Can’t believe she took the mangalsutra but good riddance for Tejo

Hey y'all! Im here with the anticipated final part of this TS, hope i’ve done justice to it. I’m also looking forward for your feedback and reacts! Do let me know how’s it!

Part 2 —The Final Chapter

One month later — Chandigarh

“Are you ready? You know we’re going for Simran & Buzzo’s wedding, not ours,” Tejo said.

Two minutes later, Aarav stepped out with Sia in his arms with a smirk on his face.

“Our wedding, huh?” He teased Tejo. That’s when realization dawned upon her.

She blushed and rolled her eyes. “Stop teasing me. Is everything packed in the car?”

“Yes, everything is packed and we’re ready to go,” he replied.

“Sia, all ready to meet Nanu and Maasi?” Tejo enquired.

“Yes, Mumma! I’m super excited,” Sia yelled.

Looking at an overjoyed Sia, Tejo was happy but inside she was dreading the confrontations that she may face once she shows up at the functions. Sensing Tejo’s vulnerability, Aarav took hold of her hands assuringly.

“Alright girls, ready for a long drive and an awesome weekend with me?” Aarav said to lighten up the mood.

“Yes Dada!!” shouted an enthusiastic Sia and Tejo just nodded and walked hand in hand to the car with Aarav with Sia leading the way.

Things have now been going smoothly between Aarav and Tejo. She’s been accepting his advances and been making efforts from her side. She has known this for a while but past experiences have made her a little hesitant when it comes to relationships but seeing Sia warming up to Aarav and wholeheartedly calling him ‘dada’ has made her feel that he was the right one for Sia and herself. He brightened up both of their days like diyas on a dark night. He was special and was meant to be treated as such. Therefore, this weekend she was going to introduce him to her family as her ‘special one’ unknown to him. The thoughts of it alone had her blushing and erupting butterflies in her stomach but she was also dreading their reactions.

Two hours later—Moga.

The trio stepped out of the car only to be attacked by the bride’s little sister, the one and only Mahi Virk.

“Maassiii!!!” shouted Sia.

“Monkey,” replied an equally excited Mahi.

Sia pouted as her Maasi called her monkey, as it was the nickname Mahi gave her as she’s always overly hyper.

“Okay, okay stop pouting. You know you love when I call you that,” Mahi said to Sia as she picked her up in her arms and squeezed her cheeks. “By the way, why are you all so late? You were supposed to come yesterday, na?”

“Yes, we were but I was busy with some work and I couldn’t leave. I have informed Papa and told him we’ll be here for the Sangeet as we’ve missed the Haldi. Also Aarav had an important meeting as well and you know Sia, she’ll throw tantrums.

“Ohh, so Aarav was the reason,” Mahi said as she wiggled her eyebrows.

Tejo patted Mahi’s shoulder as she said, “aren’t we late now? Let’s go inside.” Aarav, Mahi and Sia chuckled at Tejo whilst the former two knew the reasons, Sia just laughed because her Dada and Maasi were.

• • • • • • •

The sangeet function was about to begin when Tejo and Aarav with Sia in his arms. The trio were wearing matching clothes; anyone who saw them would mistake them to be married with Sia being their child.

Khushbeer Virk saw them entering and approached them. The Sandhus were present alongside the Virks. They were to see Tejo there. They have assumed she wouldn’t show up since she hasn’t been in contact with them for years.

“Papa,” Tejo said as she gave Khushbeer a hug.

“Tejo, I was worried you changed your mind and didn’t want to come,” Khushbeer said.

“Oh come on. You know if you called and told me to come, I’ll be here in a jiffy,” she replied to him.

“Nanu!” Sia shouted and jumped out of Aarav’s arms.

“Careful, Sia,” Aarav and Tejo said and looked at their little devil.

Sandhus and Virks were shocked to hear Sia calling Khushbeer ‘Nanu’. At the very moment, they’ve realized that he’s kept contact with Tejo and disconnected with his son. And on top of it all, Sia was Fateh and Tejo’s daughter- she was their grandchild. Gurpreet and Satti were ready to blast her but realized it wasn’t the time, since it was a family function and there were guests present.

Khushbeer on greeting Aarav, when music started to play.

Taaron Ka Chamkta playing in the background whilst Tejo made her way to Simran and Buzzo with Sia tugging on her hands. A bright smile made its way on the bride and groom’s face as they saw the mother-daughter as they reached them.

As Tejo looked towards the stage, she saw a face she never wanted to ever again in her life. Him. It was him. He was here. But why?

“Oh Tejo, are you crazy? Simran is his sister. What did you think, he won’t be at his sister and best friend’s wedding?” her conscience mocked her.

Tejo introduced Sia to Simran and Buzzo as Maasi and Maama. Sia was so ecstatic to have another Maasi that she jumped on Simran and gave her the tightest hug she could. She was then introduced to Candy as her brother, ever since she has been following him around chanting ‘bhai, bhai.’ Tejo was happy that Sia is being accepted by members of the family.

After the dance performance, Fateh had come to meet his sister and best friend when he spotted her. He was speechless. ”What is she doing here?” he thought. He was at a distance gawking at her, she was looking different from the last time he saw her. “And when was the last time you saw her, five years ago, when she left,” his heart chided.

“Hey,” he greeted her.

“Hi,” she responded.

“How are you?” he asked.

“I’m fine, thank you. How are you?” she said.

“I’m great,” he replied.

Tejo and Fateh have been conversing for over fifteen minutes about all that’s been going on in their lives over the past five years but unknown to him remains Sia’s existence. Tejo was hesitant to reveal that part to him, thinking he would want custody of Sia and take her away. The duo were being warm to each other; the Virks and Sandhus misunderstood their bonding as if they were reconciling. During their conversation, it was revealed a year after Tejo’s departure, Jasmine had left Fateh as he couldn’t fulfill her dreams of going to Canada. She got an offer of modelling and travelled to Canada and never returned. Fateh was against her modelling and she protested. According to him, she’s now married to a Canadian and has done a few international ads for well known brands.

Tejo was happy for her sister, after all her dream of going to Canada had been fulfilled but still felt bad for Fateh. She knew how much Fateh and Jasmine loved each other.

Fateh, on the other hand, was happy that Tejo had returned to Moga and that the cherry on the top was that she’ll be here for one week, he had hopes of getting her back. He wanted her forgiveness. He wanted her love that he had not acknowledged years ago. He wanted, no, he needed her. He needed Tejo.

“Attention! Attention! Ladies, Gentlemen and little ones, welcome and thank you for attending the sangeet ceremony of my one and only sister Simran and my brother-in-law to be, Buzzo. Now as half of the fun is completed, let’s get to the second round. It’s game time!” Mahi said enthusiastically.

She continued, “We‘ll have a males versus ladies competition. I have two jars, one has the name of the person and the other has whether the person will dance or sing. The trick to it is, you’ll have to dedicate it to someone here and the audience will guess who’s it for.”

“Are you ready?” Mahi asked and pointed the mic towards the crowd.

“YES!” everyone shouted.

“Okay then, let’s begin. First, it’s…Papa” Mahi said. “And you’re going to…dance!”

The crowd cheered for Khushbeer as he made his way to the stage. After five minutes of his performance for Simran, she came and hugged him. He was teary. Everyone looked at the father-daughter in awe.

Next it was Gurpreet, followed by Dadaji, Sukhbir Chachu, Satti, Amrik and then all of the Virks and Sandhus except for Tejo and Fateh.

Fateh’s name was then pulled from the jar and he went on the stage to dance. He performed a love song and dedicated it to Tejo, she was stunned and Aarav was jealous. He felt suffocated and wanted to leave but couldn’t since Sia was sitting in his laps watching everyone’s performance.

Soon it was Tejo’s turn and she was going to sing. A nervous wreck she was. Sweat beads were forming on her forehead but one glance at Aarav and Sia, and her nervousness flew out the door. Mahi handed her the mic and she began:

“Tu hi toh jannat meri

Tu hi mera junoon

Tu hi toh mannat meri

Tu hi rooh ka sukoon

Tu hi aakhiyon ki thandak

Tu hi dil ki hai dastaak

Aur kuch na jaanu main

Bas itna hi jaanu

Tujhe mein rab dikhta hai

Yaara main kya karoon

Tujhe mein rab dikhta hai..

Yaara main kya karoon

Sajde sar jhukta hai

Yaara main kya karoon

Tujhe mein rab dikhta hai

Yaara main kya karoon..”

With every line, she made a step forward. Towards Sia and Aarav, Fateh was also sitting beside them. He thought she was heading towards him and had a huge smile plastered on his lips. As she gets closer, Aarav gets nervous and Fateh, excited. Fateh gets up and walks up to Tejo. The Sandhus and Virks except for Khushbeer and Mahi were happy that Tejo and Fateh were still in love, as they’ve assumed. Tejo then walked past Fateh and headed to Aarav. He stood up and looked shockingly at Tejo who was now expressing her love for him in the open. He knew she had feelings for him but he never expected her to be this brave and propose to him this way, in front of over a hundred people.

As Tejo finishes her song, she said ‘I love you, Aarav’ and hugged him.

He said, ‘I love you, too’ and pecked her temple forgetting their surroundings.

Sia being her naughty self, felt left out and exclaimed, “Mumma - Dada, you don’t love me anymore?”

Aarav and Tejo chuckled at their daughter’s cuteness. Aarav picked her up and said, ‘Dada loves you more than he loves Mumma.’ to which she replied, ‘okay’ and pecked his cheeks and stuck her tongue out at Tejo.

Fateh was left heartbroken once again until realization struck, Sia calling Tejo ‘mumma.’ He wanted to confront her as to what the signals were that she was giving him all night, being nice to him, giggling and most importantly, who is Sia?

Later, after the function ends and all the guests have left, Mahi pounced on Tejo and Aarav congratulating them on leaving Fateh, Virks and Sandhus fuming. Sia attempted to pull Mahi away from her parents.

“Maasi, let them breathe,” Sia cutely said.

“Oho, are you jealous, Monkey?” Mahi teased her niece.

Sia huffed and replied, “No!”

“Aww, my cute monkey. Come here for a hug too,” Mahi said as she picked Sia up.

Khushbeer then blessed Aarav and Tejo. He has met Aarav a few times when he has visited Chandigarh under the pretext of political meetings. He believed Aarav was the perfect man for Tejo; he saw love in the man’s eyes for his daughter and granddaughter.

The moment has arrived that Tejo was dreading since the beginning of the week. It was time to face the consequences. She wanted to run away but she couldn’t. She wanted it to be done and dusted once and for all, so she can close this chapter of her life to begin a new one.

Fateh approached her and asked, “Why?”

Tejo was baffled. He couldn’t decipher what he was asking but still questioned, “why, what?”

“Why were you being all cozy with me throughout the night if you weren’t planning on getting back together? Is this your sick way of exacting revenge on me?” he asked.

“Excuse me? I was being nice to you, not cozy. And being nice to someone doesn’t exactly mean you’re interested in them. It simply means having respect and being cordial. And what revenge? I don’t need to take any revenge against you! Do you understand, Mr. Fateh Singh Virk?” she said.

Fateh was speechless. He knew Tejo was fierce but this was a new version of her. She wasn’t that feisty Tejo, this was a tigress. He was now scared to ask her the other question that was residing in her mind, he was scared of her reaction to it but nevertheless asked, “who is Sia’s father?”

Tejo was baffled. Aarav was conflicted. He was scared of the answer. He knew the truth and now that Sia’s biological father was asking the question, he feared the outcome of the situation.

“Aarav,” Tejo said. Aarav looked at her, appalled. He couldn’t believe his ears. “Technically you’re her biological father but Aarav is her dad. Her Dada, the man who loves and cherishes her. He was there every stage of her life and for her, he is irreplaceable. She loves and adores him more than her own mom, me. In a heartbeat, Sia would choose Aarav over anyone. Aarav was supposed to join us today since we were coming yesterday but she refused to come without him. Her day begins and ends with him. So, Mr. Virk, my daughter’s dad is Aarav Kapoor not you.” Tejo finished.

The Virks and Sandhus have had a long night being it with the sangeet function and Tejo’s night of revelations. After a lengthy discussion, they have realized it was wrong of them to assume that there was hope for Fateh and Tejo as the former has brutally rejected the latter countless times. They have accepted Aarav as Tejo’s partner and Sia’s father. Sia was introduced to Sandhus and Virks. She was excited to meet her extended family. She grew fond of her four Mamus- Abhiraaj, Navraaj, Dilraaj and Amrik. The latter has introduced himself as Tejo’s brother, Sia’s Mahi Maasi and Simran Maasi’s little brother.

Khushbeer has proposed to get Aarav and Tejo married at the same altar as Simran and Buzzo but Aarav refused since he wanted to give Tejo a wedding she deserves. He wanted to plan every little detail for the love of his life and he wanted his daughter to have fun at her parents’ wedding. So with the consent of Khushbeer, he decided to consult the pandit and get the earliest date possible and they’ll get married in Moga with the blessings of their family.

Amidst the conversation, Tejo had a request for Khushbeer. She wanted him to do her Kanyadaan. He has been her father figure since Rupi passed away three years ago. Khushbeer agreed in an instant without any hesitation, he was happy to do so.

That night, Aarav and Tejo had one of the most restless sleep they ever had in their life. They couldn’t wait for the sunrise since it’ll be a new beginning for them. After countless twists and turns, they’ve fallen asleep in hopes of a wonderful start.
