Well as the title of this topic, I think viewers can agree that he knows pretty well that neither his family nor Vedika actually ever loves him and because he has loved them he believes in the notion of ek tarfah pyaar ki takat becoz one can repeatedly see his reactions when vedika and her husband tries to rub off every time in front of Ram what ideal couple they are or when his family members did not wait for him to come for engagement for Shivina which got fixed mainly due to Ram only.

But the main topic here is why is Ram so desparate for love that he cannot put bad behavior by these people straight even though he is the head of his family and Vedika is nothing special at all. I think this is beyond his character trait and something to do with his past, I mean we don't know at this point what his relationship was with his real parents or how he actually met Vedika.

So we have to wait and watch what's the reason for Ram to keep on accepting mistreatment and still giving back to people around him and will this but of his will change when Priya enters his life.

There could be multiple reason for it. One like yshu said he may have a feeling that these are the only people he has as family. Scared of being deserted, he might have accepted his ek tarfa pyaar, not just for Vedika but also his family. Vrinda and Adi are there, but friends have their own life too.

Since people are not reciprocating his love and concern, have no gratitude towards his efforts to make them happy, living without expectations is what he has chosen to, as that would make his life a little easier, instead of having expectations and then being disappointed by it. Latter can cause more pain. Too many unfulfilled expectations can fill his life with negativity, which probably he does not want. Here at least he can smile and enjoy rain.

Another reason could be the strong sense of responsibility he feels towards the family members, being the eldest and the earning member. That sense of responsibility might have overwhelmed him from within, where he feels he should do his part efficiently, even others don't play their roles. Atleast that way he wouldn't feel burdened or dissatisfied from within that he didn't fulfill his side of duty..

Other reason could be cliche mom's over influence over her son, where she has managed to convince Ram, that they as family love him toooooo much, despite their actions proving otherwise. 😉 guilt tripping people can keep them under control for a long time. I don't know if the mother is his real mother or like season 1 she is also step mom. In case she is his step mom, then that means his parents are probably no more. Those who suffer loss may become either bitter or may end up appreciating every little thing that life gives them, even if it is not up to their expectation, because they know what it is to loose.

We need to wait for his side if the story go unfold. Despite of knowing people are using u, if one still lives in a denial mode, it could be because he is scared to face the truth...scared that...he would have no one to go to or no place to call home...

Thank you for your beautiful explanation, I also agree with ur points especially the one where he himself has accepted and explained himself that this is the most he can get from his family.

The way he spoils Shivina its clear he is doing it as the eldest and the head of the family like a father figure therefore sense of responsibility is utmost in him even more than love I feel sometimes.

I also think Nandini has a big hold over Ram which is even bigger than his step siblings or Vedika so she definitely lets Ram know what she wants and Ram agrees to that but I definitely think that she is Ram's step mom just like in S1 due to her blatant disregard for Ram's feelings. The only difference from S1, this was clear from beginning as the age difference between Ram and his step mom in previous serious was also not much so one can see on face value that they are not blood related.

But the question is does Ram know that not only his step family has not accepted him as his own but also keeps malice for him and easily can plan and plot against him??

lets accept as face value that he is a successful businessman. in that case, I am going to assume that he has actual brains and intution and can read the room. so he knows that they keep malice for him but does not want to accept and is hoping for the best -- thats my take.

Well from the band baaja wala scene b/w Ram n Adi, it’s obvio that Ram isn’t oblivious to his step fams actions. I think he’s too emotional and lonely. Even though he has some really good set of friends who just wishes the best for him but they can’t live with him. It’s his step fam who lives with him. Since he’s too emotional, but very responsible and a successful businessman, he feels if he can give love to them he might one day get the same in return. Plus, he’s a man with too much optimism. He never thinks or feels ill will about anyone around, not even strangers. He just expects ppl to be good to others and everyone and not spread any negativity. He definitely knows they don’t consider him that close and as family as they are with each other but I don’t think he wants to feel that they USE him. Also, so far, I don’t think he has faced or shown to have faced a situation where he sees they are wrong and just want him to stand by them and use his power. He hasn’t come across a situation where he has to choose b/w them and the right. I think it’s only with Priya, he might start feeling so which would be interesting to explore.

I do wonder why ITV keep showing such families other than they generate lots of masala to write 500 eps. Why not show families with step-children/half-children getting along and having normal relationships and fights? Or show realistically, how these families go on this journey to become a family? Especially in this day, when we are seeing more re-marriages after divorce, there are going to be more blended families.

Ram knows it but he just doesn't want to understand and wants to believe that one day his one sided love will change them & he is waiting for that moment but little does they know they don't have any feelings for him for even his one sided love

This is what his friends tries to make him see but there is a boundary & line the gang can't cross thus they just let Ram do what he wants as they know,he will not listen

Something that friends can't do & make him understand its his wife will do that and make him understand the selfishness of his family and break his illusion & they are using him only & wants to control him

We are our pasts.

There (can) come(s) a time when we get the shackles of our heart broken and become free (somewhat) but until then, we keep craving for that one thing we didn't get.

It can literally be anything.

Mostly it's love. Sometimes a person craves for his/her parents' love his/her entire life even though he has become an aged person and the parent is dead long ago. That craving doesn't leave. That emptiness stays even if he/she tries to fill the void with materialistic things/money/status/fame.
