Chapter-11
Kalyani slapped Malhar in front of everyone. Seeing that, the police officers proceeded towards Kalyani but Malhar signalled them to stop.
"It's a personal matter, Officers," he simply said.
"Who do you think you are, Mr. Malhar Malhotra?" Kalyani was practically shouting, "Wait that's not even your real name? How many names do you have? And how many foolish girls like me you've trapped? You even used my Moksh for this? You knew, na that Moksh's my son..."
"Kalyani, calm down," Malhar said, putting his hand on her arm, "Let's go somewhere else and talk."
Kalyani pushed his hand away, "I'm not going anywhere. Stop, where are you taking Moksh?" Malhar lifted Moksh in his arms ans went towards his car. And opened the door for Kalyani.
"Why do you think I'll let my son go with an imposter like you?" Kalyani said.
"Because I'm Moksh's legal parent," Malhar hissed, "You've already signed a declaration one year ago in the orphanage that you'd never try to contact Moksh or track him, remember? You didn't even have the courage to lodge a police complaint against your criminal husband that he was trying to harm Moksh. Instead you gave up Moksh to the orphanage. Ab ye mahaan Maa banne ka naatak mere saamne to karo hi mat."
"I loved Atharv...how could I turn him over to police?"
Malhar's laugh was caustic, "You loved Atharv...right. This is such a great excuse. Main Atharv se pyaar karti hoon...bas ye bol do aur chaar ankhein hote huye bhi kisi andhe ki tarah behave karo aur fir expect karo ki aapki once in a lifetime love story dekhkar police ka bhi movies ke end wali police ki tarah dil pighal jaaye aur police bhi khushi khushi andhi ho jaye fir aapka husband chahe khud aapke bacche ko harm karne ki hi koshish kyon na kare. Are jab tumhe apne khud ke bacche ke liye stand nahi le paayi, to tumhare pati ne jo drugs bechi hain usse tumhare students ki life barbaad ho jaye, tumhe kya fark parta hai. Tum to Atharv ke saath ek tarfa love story love story khelo, aag lage saari duniya me. Arey ye to pyaar ka sawaal hai na, sahi-galat, kanooni-gairkanooni, ye sab faltu ki baatein Hain. Main to faaltu me hi tumhari prem kahaani me villain ban baitha hoon. Jao wapis apne pati ke paas jo is time pata nahi apni kon se no. ki girlfriend ke saath hoga? Moksh ka kya hai, ise kucch ho gaya, to kar lena usi orphanage se kisi aur bacche ko adopt jahaan tum Moksh ko tab chhor aayi thi jab use tumhari sabse zyada zaroorat thi?"
"Drugs?" Kalyani was perplexed.
"Maine itna lamba monologues bol dala aur tumhari sui abhi isi par atki hai. Faaltu mein apni energy waste ki maine," Malhar exhaled loudly.
"You said Atharv sold drugs?" Kalyani asked again.
"Yes ma'am. The medicine you supplied to your students from the your husband's pharmacy company, it was cocaine, heroin, Are main tumhe ye sab kyon bata raha hoon main? Tumhe to sab pata hoga na. Tumhi to in sabki supply karti thi?"
"No," Kalyani began sweating, "I didn't even know it was drugs he sent through me. He simply said he provided necessary meds for my students' parents at discounted rate so that students with not so good financial conditions are not financially burdened?"
"Usne kaha aur tumne maan liya?" Malhar said, "Mujhse to har baat me bada sawaal jawaab karti ho."
"You're going to arrest me?" Kalyani's eyes were pleading.
"No!"
"Thank you," Kalyani said and opened the car's door to get out.
"One second madam," Malhar stopped her, "Free me to ajkal ek santre ki toffee bhi na mile. To main aapko bina kisi keemat ke kaise chhor doon..."
"What do you want?" Kalyani never felt so helpless, "I don't have much money but I'll transfer you all the money..."
"Aapke husband jitna kameena nahi hoon main, Ms. Deshmukh," Malhar said, "And at least I earn sufficient in my job that I don't need to rob people. I want another thing."
"What???"
"Help me to catch Atharv red-handed with evidence so that this time he can't escape through any loophole, and return I'll drop the case against you. Deal?" Malhar extended his hands towards Kalyani.
Kalyani didn't shake his hand, so Malhar started his car, whistling the tune of an old song.
In the rear window, he saw Kalyani gazing in his direction. And just then he received a text, "I'll do it. For Pillu."
