If we are talking about sweet rituals here.. I believe that Kanyadaan is not only a sweet but a divine and the most meaningful ritual of all rituals even above Karvachauth and Rakshabandhan.

I'm sorry Blue Ice.. I'm not a good explainer I tried and failed.. couldn't explain to you that Kanyadaan is not about "kanya" and "daan" it has an auspicious story behind it. Kanya isn't paraya dhan but is the Lakshmi of the house. Making judgments without understanding the entire context of Kanyadaan or as a matter of fact on any subject, speaks about how we are failing to have a rational discussion.

The fault is on us and how society progressed(not really) and how we are so destroyed that we see the fault in a ritual when it's us who have been corrupted.

I beg to differ. I have seen many men taking equal responsibility of their in laws. Not gonna get into an essay match with you.

There is a difference between duty and doing a good deed.....when the woman does it...it is her duty....when the man does it...he becomes a Devata....that is the difference.....I don't want any set pf parents to be left on their own...It should be the DUTY of both the spouses to take care of their parents and in-laws....no one should be getting any brownie points for doing so...How it will be done is for the couple to figure out...

Please don’t speak about me when you don’t even know me.

What she is saying that a woman in patriarchal society have to take care of in laws, regardless of she wants to or not.

A man doing it, even if he is doing without any feeling of doing favor, will still be viewed as a favor by society.

This is for free though and did not cost me two cents.

All I’m saying is, the couple should take equal responsibility and not say I’ll look after my parents and not yours. Applies to guys too. Why should a girl treat his parents like her own and he be indifferent towards hers?

Why bash all guys due to patriarchy?

As a guy, I’m offended, WTF. I’ll take care of my girl’s family like my own. I’ll bow out now 😂

Similar convictions were held for the rituals and practices like ‘sati’. Raja Rammohan Roy was made to eat dirt before he could convince people to ban ‘sati’.

I don't think people here are bashing all the guys, but the general concept of guy.

Just like when boys say ladkiya bewafa hoti hain, they don't mean every girl but girls who are bewafa.

Just say all of you women are indeed objects, and end the debate bro.

Much easier and practical.

In an ideal world yes and that’s been the bone of contention for all the modern girls. No one asked these questions before though. But now that the girls are asking these questions, people are not liking it anymore and calling the girls as the people who are trying to break the society.
